Data Summary
Attitude: All students said they liked to read, and the majority of
student said it was because they get to learn new information.
The majority of student said they felt confident in their reading,
but a few arent so assured.
Interests: The most popular genres in the class are fairy tales
and picture books, while the least favorite is biographies. The
majority of students like the books they read in class, as well as
reading in their free time. Most students are neutral about
reading chapter books.

Data Summary
Learning Styles: Almost all students like to read on their own and
they enjoy it when the teacher reads aloud to the class. There is
almost an equal number of students that agree, disagree, and
are neutral to reading out loud to someone else (no clear class
preference).
Work Habits: The majority of students like to read at home.
However, there are still many students that like to read at school
and at the library.

Instructional Plan
To make sure all students feel confident and and comfortable with reading, I will try
my best to create a positive learning environment where students can feel free to
make mistakes
I will include reading genres in my lessons that are appealing to students, such as fairy
tales or picture books. I will try to limit biography and poetry readings, or incorporate
these genres in a more engaging way (ex. reading a biography of someone their
interested in)
I will try to use a variety of learning styles that include myself reading out loud, partner
reading, as well as individual reading for all students to be comfortable
A few students prefer to read at school or in the library because of distractions at
home. I can provide extra silent reading time during class to allow these students to
get in reading time throughout the day.

Instructional Plan
I will make sure to communicate with my mentor teacher when developing my lessons
to gain insight and receive constructive criticism. My mentor would be of great help
when brainstorming my lesson, as well as providing ideas and resources to help
enhance and broaden my instruction.
By getting to know the students on a more personal level (life at home, interests, etc.) I
can find better ways to engage students in learning. I will be able to create a lesson
of more interest to the students by finding out what they do and dont enjoy.
