The government fiscal budget which allocates funds to run the nation, is

divided among different departments based on their needs and their funding
requirement. For example, people needs housing, healthcare, food, work,
and education etc. Wars, waged to protect a nations interest must be
justified since funds and manpower in form of military personnel and
equipment should be provided for it. I think a war like Vietnam War was not
necessary since it drained our manpower resources, took funds that were set
aside to improve our nation, such as building roads, railway, improving
security and safety of our school, and provide food and shelter to many
segments of the society who were deprived from basic life necessities.
Additionally, I dont see any justification to go to war in Vietnam, when there
was no treat from their government or people, who are very poor, to our
country. The war may had provided an opportunity for arms and weapon
factories to stay overtime building arm and military equipment that were
needed to run and continue the war and create jobs. That might have made
economic sense, however many lives were sacrificed and many people
became permanently disabled while we might have lost opportunity to use
the money somewhere more useful in our country for the benefit of people.
