Teachers teach the way that they were taught. After teachers learn more about teachers' learning styles, they begin to gain their own personal learning style. There are many different learning styles and not all teachers will agree to them but can adjust to fit them best. This study was to determine if there was a predominant learning style among postsecondary instructors at technical institutes in Arkansas.

After teachers learn more about teachers learning styles, they begin to gain their own personal learning style. Teachers are able to obtain several different learning styles but must be able to depict which one will be most suitable for their students. There are many different learning styles and not all teachers will agree to them but can adjust to fit them best. Learning styles are not even comparable. Each one has its own benefits and downfalls. They are not related to intelligence, mental ability or actual learning performance. These styles can be identified as our perceptions of our natural learning strengths based on our behaviors, characteristics and mannerisms. There are four learning/teaching channels outlined by Gregorc: concrete, sequential, abstract sequential, abstract random and concrete random. Each channel has its own qualities. Some of those including perfection of hands-on activity, insightfulness and well organized detailed planners. Bimodel individuals are strong in two learning styles that are capable to operate more than one channel. Studies have found that students with three of the four channels were making higher grades, when they were mismatched with teachers that used a learning style that did not match their style. Studies have also found that students paired with their matching learning style have higher scores on specific tests. This specific study was to determine if there was a predominant learning style among postsecondary instructors at technical institutes in Arkansas. Also, if there is a significant difference in instructors learning style and some of their personal characteristics. After the study was carried out, data found that there are an equal percentage of students that were tested dominant in more than one learning style and the same for a single learning style. Most postsecondary instructors tend to teach with a the learning style of concrete sequential with organized steps, structured work and to the point attitude. In the end, teachers have to make sure that they are meeting the needs of their students in the learning style that fits the students best. It is encouraged that the colleges instructors understand their personal learning style and how it may relate to the learners learning style.
