Assessment Project 2
Question 1 was answered correctly by 100% of the class; it also had a difficulty index of
0.00 and a discrimination index of -.25. The first question was designed to test the second level,
or basic knowledge that a student should know entering a 10th grade class on World
History/Geography. After reflecting upon the results of the Turing Technologies Classroom
Response System, the question accurately represents and tests some basic knowledge the
students should have. Since it was answered correctly by 100% of the class it completed its
purpose successfully. The difficulty index of 0.00 was also a perfect example of a level 2
question. The discrimination index of -.25 was also perfect for a level 2 question. The question
was also correctly answered within a predicted rage of 100%. Therefore if there was a 3rd
Assessment Project this question would stay the same.
Question 2 was answered correctly by 33% of the class; it also had a difficulty index of
0.00 and a discrimination index of 0.00. The second question was designed to test the 3rd level or
basic knowledge that a student should know when leaving a 10th grade class on World
History/Geography. After reflecting upon the results of the Turing Technologies Classroom
Response System, the question did not accurately represent and test some basic knowledge the
students should have. However there also may exist a discrepancy between actual 10th grade
world history/geography students who have completed the course verses EDU360 students.
Now assuming that this was an actual 10th grade world history/geography class and this was an
actual assessment of what the students know, the question (or possibly instruction) was a failure.
It is a failure because of the 33% correct response, the difficulty index of 0.00, and a
discrimination index of 0.00. Since the second question dose not accurately reflect a level 2

question the following question will be used if there was a 3rd Assessment Project (also note that
there would be the same prediction of 75%-80% correct responses):
These four civilizations existed in what is now called the Middle East.
(the correct response is highlighted)
1.
2.
3.
4.

Rome, Greece, Sumer, Judea

Egypt, India, Persia, Judea
Sumer, Babylonia, Assyria, Judea
The Romulan Empire, Atlantis, Oz, Middle Earth (due to popular request)

Question 3 was answered correctly by 41.67% of the class; it also had a difficulty index
of 0.00 and a discrimination index of 0.00. The third question was designed to test the 4th level
or a going deeper question in which a student in a10th grade class on World History/Geography
would have to have shown deeper or creative thought. After reflecting upon the results of the
Turing Technologies Classroom Response System, the question did not accurately represent and
test some advanced knowledge the students would have. Keeping the same assumptions in place
from the reflection of question 2, question 3 was a failure. It is a failure because of the 41.67%
correct response, the difficulty index of 0.00, and a discrimination index of 0.00. Since the third
question dose not accurately reflect a level 3 question the following question will be used if there
was a 3rd Assessment Project (also note that there would be the same prediction of 50%-60%
correct responses):
Which of the following best describes the concept of environmental determinism?
(the correct response is highlighted)
1. The environment determines the success or failure of a race.
2. The environment determines the success or failure of the genders.
3. The environment determines the success or failure of a society.
4. The environment determines the success or failure of all the above.
