Research question: What are the profesional action of the Social Workers about to the
Animal Protection in the Bogota city?
General Objetive
To identify the profesional action of the Social Workers about to the Animal Protection in
the Bogota city through of Social Investigation, Giving I go on to the recognition of the
relation between the professional and Environmental activity.
Specific objetives
1. To investigate on the problematic of animal mistreatment and his national
legislation and distrital
2. To analyze the professional action of the Social Workers opposite to the topic of the
Animal Protection in Bogota.
Introduction
The Animal mistreatment is a type of psychological, physical and emotional violence on the
animals. The Animal Mistreatment is, too, a factor that generate social violence. It is from
the different violence that affect us to everyone individually and socially.
About this, the animal protection is based to ban the violent actions on the animals, talk
about the animals rights, is about work for improve the world, do it fairer and without
suffering. Actually in Colombia exist the law 84 from the year 1989, and in Bogot, exist a
distrital law about the protection and family welfare.
The theme have a social impact that is important because give us to know the different
actions by the Social Workers, and how this actions mitigate the animal mistreatment.
Theorical Framework
Animal abuse, violent action is exerted toward animals, understanding violence
as:
An intentional act that may be unique or recurrent and cyclical, addressed to
dominate, control, attack or hurt others. It is almost always exercised by the most
senior people, namely, those who have the power in a relationship, but can also be
exerted on objects, animals or against himself .(Glatt, nd).

As discussed in the text above, violence is related to any action committed to

another (living or inert), considering that usually by the power relations between the parties
involved in the violent situation. Because of this, animal abuse arises as every action that
negatively affects an animal form.
According Glatt (sf), "Animal abuse is, at once, a factor predisposing to social
violence and at the same time, a consequence of it." Therefore we can determine that when
talking about animal abuse is you can talk about social violence, as the author argues that
animal abuse is a reflection of the social violence that occurs between people, between
these, domestic violence.
Animal protection
Speaking of animal abuse, we must establish the actions that seek to mitigate this problem,
so the concept of animal protection is established. Quintanilla (2008) states that "the roots
of animal protection based on the right principles, respect and morality", so to speak of
animal protection, we talk about the recognition of human and non-human animals as
subjects they deserve full rights and moral respect.
The author also states that "we can not say that we protectors of animals if we do not
respect the right of all living things around us," thus being protective animals means
respecting the lives and rights of animals.
Social intervention
The social intervention is defined as practices or actions taken against a social problem.
Since community Social Work internet page (sf) social intervention arises "as an action
organized by a group of individuals that make reading a social situation as unacceptable."
Therefore you can determine that the social intervention of the identification or recognizing
a social problem, from which actions to solve them are established.

Conclusions

Social Workers as we are challenged to engage increasingly with the formulation of

public policies for animal care , we can also develop educational and guiding
strategies for the care of animals

Animal protection in Colombia needs professionals committed as it is a weak

subject in terms of regulation and application
Animal abuse is common in the country why that highlight the negative of this
action and optimal solutions to the problems of society to animals, since they are
central to the development of human beings and their relationships, so it is so
important to take care and give the quality of life they deserve
