1. Beat
A. A recurring pulse that has timing, space, and energy.
B. Ten examples of beat that can be found in nature, human movement, and/or machines:
a. Playing with a ball (bounce catch)
b. Bird (chirp, chirp)
c. Cow (moo, moo)
d. Telephone (ring, ring)
e. Car (vroom, vroom)
f. Feet (stomp, stomp)
g. Toilet flushing (whoosh, whoosh)
h. Train (choo, choo)
i. Bell (ding, dong)
j. Heart (boom, boom)
2. Eurhythmics: (Moving to the beat with partners using the piano)
A series of numbered commands will follow:
a. Listen.
b. Take a step for every sound. (Follow)
c. When the music stops, you stop. (Quick reaction)
d. Now, keep stepping no matter what else you hear.
e. When I say switch, skip to the new music. (Quick reaction)
f. Now the music will tell you.
g. Change time, space, and energy. (Follow)
h. Now, find another way to move to the music. (Replacement)
i. Find a partner (social integration)
j. How would you move to the music with a partner?
k. Take Gifts.
l. Find another way to move with your partner. (Replacement)
m. When I say Oops change direction.
n. Now, the music will tell you.
o. Now, person A steps low note B steps high notes
p. When I say switch, switch parts (Quick Reactions)
q. Change T,S,E from fast beat to slow beat (Follow)
