homes, a school, and a church. The medical team visited several

other villages like this and were able to serve about 300 people.
Diversity in Biophysics Conference
University of Iowa
I accompanied my research mentor to a biochemistry conference
at the University of Iowa. We spent the day listening to speakers
from across the country discuss their research and the
importance of diversity. The conference was very interesting and
gave me a better understanding of research methods as well as
giving me new contacts in the biochemistry community.
Loras American Chemical Society, Dubuque, Iowa
President
I became president of Loras's American Chemical Society during
February of my junior year of college. I have really enjoyed
planning events and working closely with faculty members. I
have helped to plan fundraisers, speakers, conferences, and the
Chemistry Olympics so far and have already started planning
events for next year. The club has gotten me much more
involved with the science faculty and with events in general.

EMPLOYMENT
Pharmacy Technician at Sams Club, Dubuque, Iowa
Kris Frommelt, RPh. and Kim Goranson, RPh.
I started working at Sam's Club as a cashier in May of 2013 and
soon moved to membership, member service supervisor, and
finally to pharmacy technician in August of 2014. My time as a
pharmacy technician has given me practice with understanding
medication usages, reading prescriptions, learning laws,
processing insurance claims, and basic patient interaction. This
experience is especially useful during my time shadowing
because due to my knowledge of medications, I am able to
understand why the doctors are prescribing certain medications
and sometimes even offer alternatives.

August 2013
During the fall of my senior year of high school I started working
for the Leisure Services after school program at a high-risk
elementary school. The following summer I continued to work for
them through their park and recreation department. This
experience taught me how to work with kids and was a lot of
fun. I was able to plan events, make up games, and build great
relationships with the kids and their parents. Though this job was
not in the least bit medical, it brought me a lot closer to my
community.
