Topic: Music, Movie, and TV Show Readers Advisory in Public Libraries

Thesis: Since the audiovisual desk at the Skokie Public Library is in high demand for
recommendations for movies, TV shows, and music, it is proposed to make an electronic
readers advisory platform for this, similar to what is being offered with our bookmatch services.
Purpose: The purpose of this project is to enhance and expand the readers advisory services at
Skokie Public Library in audiovisual so that it is consistent with current readers advisory
practices for books.
Procedures:
Gather audiovisual circulation statistics and track recommendations to show this
is a need for readers advisory services.
Interview librarians in Jacksonville Public Library and Morton Grove Public
Library who are currently offering this service at their library.
Research other public libraries who are offering this service.
Collaborate with librarians on creating an electronic platform to be distributed and
managed on the Skokie Public Library website.
Outcomes:

Expand readers advisory service to include movies, music, and TV shows.

Gain experience establishing readers advisory practices in a public library
