Did you provide training for the intern? _x_ yes _____ no
Please elaborate:

-OVER-

What contact did you have with the intern during the internship? Please be specific.
I provided initial orientation as well as periodic trainings. On the days she was on duty, I was Ginas primary
point of contact. In that capacity I answered questions and gave feedback on rescue and rehabilitation situations.
I was also available to discuss and/or help with any non-wildlife rehab issues or problems that occurred during
her stay.

Did the intern meet your agencys/organizations expectations for the internship?
Absolutely! Gina was a dedicated intern and showed real enthusiasm for learning new skills with wildlife and
for interacting with the public. AsignificantchallengetoanincomingSnowdoninternisinlivingandworking

Describe strengths demonstrated by the intern:

(1)
A go-for-it attitude: Gina stands out as a highly responsible self-starter who is eager to take on
new challenges. Her demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, work independently and make
appropriate decisions in regards to animal care quickly made her a valued and trusted member of our
team.
(2) Level-headed with calm determination: Gina demonstrated over and over again an ability to handle and
treat injured wildlife without allowing anxiety to interfere. She became adept at various techniques of
fluid therapy and feeding for tiny mammals and birds, as well as large raptors in distress.
(3) Educating the public: Gina had opportunities to participate in educational programs and to handle

Describe areas in which the intern can develop professionally:

The only area I noted (and this was discussed in her exit interview) was that Gina tended to keep things bottled
up and was hesitant to communicate if she had an issue with a management decision such as scheduling or
chore assignments. There was a certain tension when this type of thing came up and went unresolved, and I
want to emphasize that it in no way compromised animal care. As she has more professional experiences, it is
my hope that Gina will learn how to communicate more effectively with supervisors and coworkers when it
comes to issues involving personal differences of opinion and work assignments.
Would you rehire this student? Why or why not?
Yes, absolutely! Gina excelled at her work while at Snowdon there are many creatures alive today because of
her dedication and she was a joy to have on our team.

Please feel free to include additional comments.

It was a pleasure to get to know Gina this summer. She has such enthusiasm for new experiences and new
places. It was truly a delight to see her experience the West. I would recommend her without reservation to
any organization involved in animal/wildlife-related endeavors.
