General Operation of the D-Box

They become state that the everyday normal operation of the D box on

REMOTE CONTROL

This section describes how the D-box is steered via the keys of the remote control. Some the functions can be

Using the Smart Card


The Smart card belongs to the D-box and will need to be in the box
upon start-up for the box to successfully pickup all channels.
BetaResearch developed Smart card search and makes use of all
services at your disposal which are available to you in the D-Box
network.
In addition it steers the safety functions like e.g. the protection of
children and young people.
For further information please refer to later pages.

Leave the Card in permanently after inserting in the CARD: 1 slot.


Remove it only of your service provider requests you to. This is
important, because the card must be in the slot for the service provider
to supply updates to the card.

Pay TV services with a Smart Card

Only for Pay TV services which are coded with the Beta Crypt
system
• Insert the Smart Card into the opening behind the cover on
the front of the D-box. The gold reference chip should point
downward and inward!
The gold chip must be on
PIN Code the lower surface and
inward on the smart card.
The Smart Card has a four digit code, also known as a PIN code
(Personnel Identification Number) this code is needed for the
access to future services from the service provider.

INSTALLATION of the D-box

In the packaging you will find the following:

• The D-box.
• 2x AAA batteries pre installed in the remote control.
• A completely wired SCART cable (1 metre)
• Instruction Manual.

The SCART sockets

• At the back of the D-box are 2 SCART sockets (see illustration).


If you attach other products to one of these sockets, you must
use always completely wired SCART cables (as provided). If SCART- socket
you do not use a not completely through-connected SCART
cable, the image quality can be impaired

Activate the remote Control

• Remove the battery protection, by pulling the isolation strip in


direction of arrow from the remote maintenance. The cover does
not have to be removed for this.

• Prepare the cable ends. Then bend the excess back over the
outer cable (see illustration)
• Push the F-plug onto the cable and turn clockwise until it sits F-Plug
firmly on the inner screen.
