Some people unfortunately cannot pay for the price of medications especially senior
citizens which need medications more than most people. They are now buying familiar brandname drugs at steep discounts from suppliers in Canada and other countries may seem like a
attractive solution. The drugs that are imported do not enjoy the Federal Food and Drug
Administration. There is inspections of imports have found improperly labeled drugs, expire
drugs, and banned drugs. About 10% of the drugs that are imported are counterfeit.

There is a ban against importing drugs and food from Canada. Citizens are also importing
prescription drugs ordered over the internet. This is where the Federal Food and Drug
Administration steps in. Importing prescription drugs ignores a whole range of other health care
issues especially senior citizens for more affordable medications. Americans have discovered
that they can order name brand drugs, that are manufactured in the United States from Canadian
pharmacies at a certain price that is just hard pressed American consumers do. Senior Citizens
are the biggest users of medications. They are the least able to pay the higher prices for the
lifelong prescriptions. The drugs are cheaper in Canada because of free health care.

Imported prescription drugs enter the United States from different countries, such as
places like Asia, and Europe. The Canadian government controls the price on drugs. Canada has
become one of the most popular sources of personal medication imports, the only difference
between the Canadian and American drugs is a perception that is disputed by some. In 1938, the
United States government extended the laws against prescription medication that include all
requirements that all drugs must pass safety test before being put on the market. In 1977, the
Bioresearch Monitoring Program was testing the medications during the drug development and
to ensure the safety of the clinical trials.
