Welcome to

Madrid Cultural Projects

The Madrid Cultural Projects (MCP) is a 501 (c) (3) organization, with a mission to preserve and
protect Madrids historical structures and foster cultural projects. We support and promote community,
provide for the arts, recreation and education, encourage youth projects and enhance the sustainability
and economic viability of our historic town.
Here's how we work:
Meetings: We usually meet the first Monday of the month at various locations in the Madrid area.
Anyone interested is welcome to attend and participate in votes of support for agenda items. Contact a
board member to find out the next month's location.
Submitting to Agenda is easy. Just send the information about your topic to the Secretary or the
President of the board at least 10 days before the next meeting. Explain Who What Why Where and
When for your topic and submit either as an item to be voted on, or as a support session for community
brainstorming. If you wish to propose a construction project that would use MCP funds more than
$1000, request more info on those requirements.
Voting Procedures: Before any binding vote by the MCP board of directors it taken, an informal vote
of support and opportunity for discussion during a monthly MCP meeting is held. Any binding vote by
the board of directors happens directly after the membership support vote.
Committees: The MCP is an umbrella organization that supports many committees through managing
funds and garnering community support. Any funds deposited into the MCP bank account for a
specific committee is subject to an administrative fee to support the MCP bookeeping functions and
regular expenses. The responsibilities of the committee chairs are as follows: set an annual budget for
their committee, attend MCP meetings where agenda items are directly relevant to their committee,
report updates and changes, track finances, and communicate with the bookeeper, treasurer, designated
board liason, and donors. See document concerning Committee Chair responsibilities.
.

The Board Members are voted on each year at the annual meeting in February. The responsibilities of
the board are to actively participate in organizational planning, financial management, and decisionmaking and to make sound and informed judgments to serve the mission of the MCP.
The Treasury information is accessible to anyone. Accounting is done monthly and reconciled
between committee chairs and the treasurer on a monthly basis.
