The task force was created to establish a fall prevention set protocol for at risk
patients based on findings discovered in research and evidence presented at Fall
Prevention Committee meeting. Kim was instrumental in directing these
initiatives and implementing them throughout the hospital.

The fall rate for all patients within the organization has improved and is now
within the goal set by the organization.
Leadership skills

Kim was able to collaborate with other leaders and make decisions that were
most beneficial for the entire organization. These decisions varied from staffing
needs, patient safety interventions, and efficient use of resources, staff
accountability for unit quality measures and customer service.

Kim has a global view of the operations of the organization and all of the
working components within that organization. She is able to lead in a way that
promotes teamwork and shared responsibility of staff at various levels and
within various departments to reach goals. This was demonstrated best by her
impact on the use of Safety Attendants throughout the hospital and her impact
on fall prevention.
She also was able to utilize the change theory to evoke change throughout the
organization. One method she utilized was to identify staff members on each
unit, who were influential to other staff. She helped to educate and coach them
to understand the need for change in reducing fall rates and the more efficient
utilization of safety attendants. These unit champions were effective in
helping to lead staff to accept the need for change as well.

She was able to share that research and work with a team to establish a new
protocol set that has had a significant impact on falls through the hospital.

Kim has demonstrated an ability to utilize technology that is required within the
organization as well as in her own research. In one of her presentations to
leadership she also had many visual charts and graphs that she had created to
help others visualize the amount in dollars and other resources that had been
saved due to her progress on the use of safety attendants hospital-wide.

Kim was able to sit in on meetings with Human Resources as well as interviews
with hiring candidates. She also attended productivity meetings and helped
complete the forms needed to present for approval of large equipment purchases
for next year. She attended and served at an event designed to celebrate staff
and improve teamwork within the organization.
