Slowly review any flashcards that prove difficult and incorporate the movement activity from last week as a review tool. Have individual students volunteer to speak and clap a rhythm. S: Will speak the rhythms in Ghost of John T: Before we sing it is important to warm-up our voices Vocal Exploration (Warm-up): Flashcards Students will vocalize the lines drawn on the flashcards.
T Will do examples first, and then have S do it on their own.
T: Sing entire song, then sing one phrase at a time and have the students echo. All: Sing entire song Sing in canon, dividing the room in half Movement Activity: Erik Satie Gymnopedie no. 1 This is a full body movement activity that is teacher directed, the students will mirror the teachers movements. (Movement instructions taken from Move It! (DVD) by John Feierabend) Introduction: 00:00 00:07 Bounce slightly from the knees A 00:08 00:42 Slowly swing one arm forward and back two times. Slowly swing the same arm across in front and back out, across in front and back out. Slowly swing the other arm forward and back three times. Slowly Swing the same arm across, in front and back out, across in front. B 00:43 1:02 Place palms together and gently twist hands back and forth while raising up slowly up above head. Separate hands above head and slowly lower hands. Perform this movement two times. C 1:03 1:20 Slowly swing arms forward and back three times.
