Opening/Framing the Lesson/Introduction/Early Assessment
I will allow students to review their vocabulary words given
5
to them Monday; I will put a timer up on the board. I will
minutes
start to shout out the words and ask for the class definition
as I post the QR codes to the wall.

The Lesson Structure: Activities

I will explain to the students the memory game we are
about to play. I have posted QR codes of the definitions of
your vocabulary words around the room. As you can see
they all have different colored construction paper behind
them. You must make notes on the definitions and their
corresponding colors. You must shorten the definition to
something youll remember because you wont have
enough time to write down the whole definition.
After seven minutes, you will find your seat in ten seconds.
Time will be available to your viewing by the online timer.
Using the SMART Response System, I will post words up on
the SMART Board. However, instead of definitions for your
answer choice, it will be the colors that correspond with its
QR code. I will give each question ten seconds before we
are allowed to shout out the FORMAL definitions using your
notes.

Closing/Assessment
I will then partner up the students by assigning one half a
vocabulary word and the other half a definition and they will
have to find each other. Then will then be use CRAM, an online
flashcard website, and use the pre-made set I already created
to test each other.

Self Evaluation of the Lesson

This lesson was very fun! The students had fun studying for their vocabulary words in this new different
manner. They really enjoyed scanning the QR codes; I just wish I could make it more in depth. Maybe have
them split up into groups and brainstorm phrases to help retain definitions of the words. Once they get
their phrases approved by me, at the end of the each day, or before recess the group can attach their QR
codes around the room and the remainder of the class can guess what each phrase means when we present
the words up on the board while the group can giggle and watch them guess!

Resources/Materials
I used QR codes. I used iPads and the app, QR Reader. In addition, I used the SMART Boards, and the
SMART Response system by enabling the SMART Response PE for the students to lock in their answers.
