RESOLUTION
STEP1CHANGE THEPORTNUMBERINTALLY
FromtheGatewayofTally,usetheoptionF12>>AdvancedConfiguration tochangethePortNumber.
Remarks:
a)ThedefaultPortNumberis9000.
b)Youcanchangeitto9001or9002or9003orsoon.
c)TheTallySoftwaremustberestartedfortheeffecttotakeplace.
d)ThenewPortNumbermustappearintheGatewayofTallysrceen.Referthescreensnapshotwhich
showsthedefaultTallyPortNumber9000.Inyourcase,itshouldshowthePortNumberas9001or9002or
whateveryouhavesetitto.
e)IfthePortNumberstilldoesnotappearinTally,trychangingthePortNumbertoadifferentonesay
(10001or10002or10003soon).IfstillyoudonotgetthePortNumberintheGatewayofTallyscreen,
pleasecontactTallySolutions,BangaloreortheVendorfromwhomyoupurchasedTallySoftware.
STEP2CHANGETHEPORTNUMBERINUDIMAGIC
YoumustsetthesamePortNumber(whichyouhavesetinTally)inUDIMagicSoftware.
1)GotoMyComputer>>Cdrive
2)GototheUDIMagicfolder.(i.e.c:\udimagicfolder)
3)LocateandOpenthefileUDIMAGIC.INI(Configurationfile)inNotepad.
4)Search(andaddifnotfound)forthesection[Tally]andaddtheServerPortoption.Yourudimagic.ini
filewilllookasfollows:
[Tally]
ServerPort=9001
Remarks:
SpecifytheServerPortvalueasrequired.i.e.ifyouhavesetthePortinTallyto9001,thenthesamePort
NumberistobespecifiedinUDIMagic.inifile.
5)Savetheudimagic.inifile

IfmorethanonepersonhastoworkonthesameCompanyinTally,thenyouneedtousethesecurity
featuresavailableinTally.YoucanenablethesecurityfeaturewhilecreatinganewCompanyorusingthe
CompanyAlterationscreen.Next,youcancreateanynumberofUsersandassignthemtheuserrightsas
required.Forexample,youmaydisallowVoucheralterationorBackdatedVoucherentryforaspecific
user.

optionResetSecurityappearsjustabovetheQUIToption.
2)Usingthenewoption,youcandisabletheSecurityfeatures
Assuming,youareloggedinasaUserwithdataentryrights,youcanusethisoptiontodisablethesecurity
featureitself.AsyoucanseeintheTDLcode,thisisdonebysettingthefieldISSECURITYONasNO.Thats
all.
NexttimewhenyoustartTallyERP,openyourCompanyandloginasdataentryuser,youcandoanything,
assecurityhasbeendisabled.

eachsolutionproviderhasitsownterms&conditionsrelatingtotheInstallation,SupportServices,AMCetc.
TallySolutions,BangalorehadearlierprovidedsomeguidelinesforTallySolutionprovidersrelatingtoCustom
BuiltSolutionsforTally.
TallySolutions,BangalorehasnowonceagainclearlystateditsviewpointonAMCwhichismadeavailable
inCostEstimatorforTallyCustomization.Thesameisreproducedunderneath:
SolutionAMCcost30%ofthescoping+developmentcostperyearafter90days.
Remarks:
1)IthasbeensuggestedbyTallySolutions,BangalorethattheAMCcostshouldbe30%ofthe
Solution/Softwarecost.
2)TheAMCchargesareforoneyearandaretobepaidaftertheinitial90days(PS:AMCisoptionalifthe
CustomerwantsanysupportservicesfortheSolutionafter90days,thenhemustgoforAMC).
However,CustomersoftencontendthatsincetheyhavepaidfortheSolution/software,itistheVendors
responsibilitytoprovideservicesthereafterandtheremustbenotimelimitrestrictionof90days.Toavoid
suchconflictingissues,VendorsmustclearlyspecifytheFreeServicePeriodmadeavailablewiththe
solution/softwareandalsotheAMCterms&conditions.

TallyCustomizationCalculateyourestimatecost
TallySolutions,BangalorehaveputupanESTIMATECALCULATORforTallyCustomization.Thisbasically
allowsyoutogetaroughideaastowhatyourcostwouldbeforTallyCustomization.
