1. Creativity and innovation; b. Create original works as a

means of personal expression.
Students will be able to: 1. Answer questions about
themselves in full sentences. 2. Show understanding of
sentence formation with proper writing mechanics (grammar
etc.) 3. Use a computer program to display their sentences in
pictures. 4. Create a class community that involves other
classmates and create a general respect for classmates and
teacher.
Teacher will grade the students writing paragraphs with
attention to writing mechanics. Teacher will comment on the
writing and leave notes and corrections that are clear and
legible to the students. The writing will be used as a
reflection grade at the end of the year to show growth in
each students writing.
Students will be provided with lined paper that includes the 5
questions about themselves in which the students can
answer in complete sentences in paragraph form. The
students will use the classroom computers in order to reach
the BitStrips program and create their comic strip about
themselves.
Teacher will write a paragraph to read and show the students
about herself. She will also complete a comic strip of her own
in order to show the class and gain their attention. This will
provide an introduction to the assignment as well as the
computer program.
Technology will be integrated in the form of using it to
display the students thoughts through pictures and words.
The students enjoy expressing themselves while learning
how to do so on the computer.

Students:
Students are allowed and
challenged to think
creatively but not too
abstractly as they are writing
about their own life which
they know well. Students are
expected to enjoy this week
long activity because it gives
them a chance to explore a
new program and to talk
about themselves and what
is important to them.

Teacher:
Teacher is encouraged to help
students as they will be new
to the BitStrip program and
will need guidance to
understand and begin. The
process of writing and
transferring it to the
computer will take about a
week long to do as their will
be an introduction, initial
writing, editing, and time to
get their vision on to the
computer.
If there is children who do not seemed to be challenged
enough, they will be asked if they want to write more than
just a paragraph. They can also help with editing others
papers if they would like. For children with a harder time with
the assignment, the teacher will be willing to help the
student think about their life in order to decide what to write
about. The teacher can help student write paragraph, but
still want child to try and do it even if it is with help. It is
possible for the assignment to take a little longer which is
okay.
Students will print out their comic strip and it will be hung on
wall for the other students to see. The students will be
challenged to try and figure out whose comic strip belongs to
whom. This will allow the students to learn about each other
and have respect for the other students lives.
