Theoretical Base for Practice

Integrate theories and knowledge from the arts, humanities, sciences and nursing
to develop a foundation for nursing practice (Ferris State University School of
Nursing, Portfolio Guidelines and Evaluation Process, 2013).
The theoretical base for practice outcome states that a nurse uses every bit
of education to form a nursing foundation. In everyday nursing practice, you do not
use just nursing courses and science. A nurse can use things from any other
educational genre to care for patients.
Analysis of a Nurse Manager helped to build a foundation of nursing from a
managers perspective. It showed me ways in which managers had to assess and
manage staff, budgets, ethics and legal issues to help an organization run. It also
helped to understand leadership styles that some managers use and how effective
or ineffective they can be.
Having an Educated Charge Nurse May Improve Patient Outcomes fits into
this goal in that it showed how education can improve the quality of care for the
patient and improves their outcomes. It showed that charge nurses needed specific
training in order to improve patient outcomes. This paper discussed the charge
nurses use of management, conflict resolution, decision making and problem
solving and the ways in which it improved care for patients. This shows that a nurse
uses more of the education received than just the nursing classes.
