I!took!on!the!lead!role!in!mathematics.!All!!PreL
primary!staff!at!Deanmore!will!use!the!same!
Mathematics!Program.!It!is!a!systematic,!
structured,!differentiated!Mathematics!
Program!based!on!the!WA!Syllabus!for!the!
Australian!Curriculum.!!
The!PreLprimary!Mathematics!Program!was!
used!in!2012!and!2013!at!Deanmore!primary!
school!for!4!classes!that!consisted!of!PreL
primarys.!!
All!PreLprimary!staff!will!regularly!participate!
in!professional!discussions!and!provide!
feedback!on!the!effectiveness!of!the!program!
and!assist!in!making!changes.!!!
The!Program!I!created!consists!of!a!syllabus,!
weekly!plan!and!weekly!lesson!plans!

As!the!lead!teacher!in!this!role!I!familiarised!
myself!with!the!WA!syllabus!for!the!Australian!
Curriculum!and!identified!what!areas!of!maths!
needed!to!be!covered!for!the!year!in!PreL
primary.!A!scope!and!sequence!was!made!to!
ensure!all!strands!were!covered.!!
We!then!carried!out!an!arrange!of!assessments!
to!find!out!students!knowledge.!On!entry!
testing!was!used!to!contribute!to!finding!out!
the!children's!abilities.!I!provided!the!teachers!
with!the!tasks!to!give!to!the!students!so!we!
could!use!them!for!moderation.!
A!weekly!mathematics!and!numeracy!focus!
was!made!by!using!the!weekly!overview!
provided!which!was!discussed!by!teachers!
involved.!
We!collaborated!to!determine!open!ended,!
appropriate!and!differentiated!assessment!
tasks.!
Notes,!future!direction!and!evaluation!was!
recorded!daily!in!teaching!and!learning!
program.!This!included!student!reflections!
and!achievements!on!the!lesson!outcomes!and!
activities.!
GEP!groups!were!given!extra!support!and!
taken!out!by!Education!Assistants!to!
consolidate!learning.!
At!the!end!of!each!term!teachers!meet!to!give!
feedback!and!guidance!for!future!directions!
and!alterations.!
Before!the!end!of!the!semesters!we!would!
meet!to!moderate.!We!used!the!Australian!
curriculum!exemplars!to!compare!and!help!
assess!and!grade!the!students.!!

As!a!result!the!maths!program!ensured!that!all!
students!in!the!preLprimary!were!exposed!in!a!
systematic!and!organised!way.!

By!receiving!teachers!feedback!on!the!quality!
