3.1.1 WHAT IS IT?


HTML or Hypertext Markup Language is a tool that you use to create your own website (3schools,
n.d.)
HTML is the skeleton that gives your website a structure, you can use it to add paragraphs, images,
(Codecademy, n.d.)

3.1.2 WHY IS IT USEFUL?


It creates the structure & lay out of your website, such as titles, paragraphs, quotes. HTML also can
add images.

3.2 XML
3.2.1 WHAT IS IT?
XML stands for Extensible Markup Language. It was designed to store and transport data.
XML was designed to be both human- and machine-readable. (3schools, n.d.)

3.2.2 WHY IS IT USEFUL?


XML was created so that richly structured documents could be used over the web. (O'Reilly, n.d.)

3.3 JAVASCRIPT/JS
3.3.1 WHAT IS IT?
JavaScript is a high level, dynamic, not typed, and interpreted programming language. It has been
standardized in the ECMAScript language specification, alongside HTML and CSS (Wikipedia, n.d.)

3.3.2 WHY IS IT USEFUL?


It also can be used for other documents, such as PDF-files, the dashboard widget of IOS, the
Microsoft Gadgets,

3.4 CSS & CSS3


3.4.1 WHAT IS IT?
CSS or Cascading Style Sheets is a stylesheet language that describes the presentation of an HTML (or
XML) document. CSS describes how elements must be rendered on screen, on paper, or in other
media. (w3schools, n.d.)

3.4.2 WHY IS IT USEFUL?


It separates the content of documents from the actual document presentation/lay-out.

3.5.1 WHAT IS IT?
SGML or Standard Generalized Markup Language is for defining generalized markup languages for
documents (Wikipedia, n.d.)

There are a lot of CMS systems and there will be a lot more in the future. Most of these CMSs are
very important in creating websites as CMS is busy on every aspects such as lay-out, paragraphs,
texture, lettertype, presentation,

4.2 REFLECTION
I never really understood the importance of CMS, so this assignment was an introduction for me.
Also Ive learned that CMSs are extremely important in editing and creating websites.
