Heretheargumentisbasedonthefactthatredcarsarenotgreencarsandassuch123oftheX
Lawcannotbeappliedtothem.Thisrequiresthelawtobeinterpretedtodeterminewhichsolution
wouldhavebeendesiredifthelawmakerhadconsideredredcars.Inthiscaseit'sprobablysafeto
assumethattheyonlywantedtoregulategreencarsandnotregulatecarsofothercolors.
Ontheotherhand,thisexample:

consciouslydidnotmentionfaxmachinesislessvalidthantheassumptionthatfaxmachinesdid
notexistatthistimeandthat,werethelawpassedtoday,theywouldhavebeenmentioned.Here
theargumentacontrarioisusedfallaciouslysinceitplacestheletterofthelawaboveitsintent
