Superintendent Entry Plan

Introduction
The purpose of this Superintendent Entry Plan is to explain the goals and activities that would be
the focus of my first 100 days as Manchester Regional High School Superintendent. After
reading this Superintendent Entry Plan, board members will understand how I intend to engage
the entire community to make Manchester Regional High School a premier district in the State of
New Jersey. While to some this may seem overly ambitious and not realistic, I believe we can
accomplish great things when we work together, motivated by the most noble cause, to provide
an education for our children that will be the foundation of life long success.
Philosophy & Core Beliefs
This Superintendent Entry Plan is based on the following set of core beliefs which inform every
goal and decision I make on behalf of students:
1. I believe every student has the right to work to their academic potential.
2. I believe public education, supported by families and the community, is appropriate and
efficient only when all students reach their academic potential.
3. I believe administrators and educators should always strive to improve their delivery of
services and never accept complacency.
100 Days Goals & Objectives:
The goals and objectives listed below are interrelated and form a symbiotic relationship.
However, the first deals with student academic achievement and is the reason for all we do in
Manchester Regional High School.

1. To analyze the effectiveness of current strategies aimed at improving student achievement
and addressing the achievement gap. (What are we doing now? Is it working? Why? Why
not?)
2. To enhance district governance by establishing a transparent, trusting and collaborative
relationship with each member of the Manchester Regional High School Board of
Education.
3. To direct the districts efforts on creating a positive school climate centered on teaching
and learning.
4. To engage all sectors of the greater Manchester Regional High School community in the
districts mission to prepare students for college and careers.
Activities to Support Goals & Objectives:
Every activity that supports these four goals and objectives include: listening and learning,
sharing and reporting.
Listening & Learning: A leader begins by listening to the stories of community members. These
include, but are not limited to: students, parents, teachers, administrators, board members, senior
citizens, and local businesses. Since listening attentively is a prerequisite to learning, the
superintendent should be the first among learners. Moreover, I will learn by analyzing student
performance reports, understanding district policies and administrative directives, and recent
reforms.
Sharing: The community I serve should understand my educational philosophy and core beliefs
stated above. As I share my philosophy and beliefs, I hope to inspire a sense of urgency in those
entrusted with the education of our youngest citizens.
Reporting: Creating trust and confidence among the community requires effective
communication. I will use various media (e.g. Twitter, press released, emails, district website) to
inform the Manchester Regional High School community of progress toward achieving the goals
of first 100 days.

Sharing my educational philosophy and core beliefs:

Working with the board of education, we will strive to improve the delivery of educational
services so that every student can reach their academic potential by:
1. Consulting with the business administrator, board finance committee, and the district
leadership team to determine whether financial resources dedicated to improving student
outcomes are having the desired effect.

organizations, including: business, religious, philanthropic, public service, and political.
2. To provide an informal setting for conversations and the exchange of ideas, I will host a
Saturday morning Meet & Greet breakfast with leaders of business, churches,
philanthropic and public service organizations and those who serve through politics.
3. Analyze the districts graduation rate and students post-graduation success in college
and/or careers.
Sharing my educational philosophy and core beliefs:
With insights from business leaders and community organizations, students will be inspired to
reach their academic potential and graduate from high school ready for college and/or the work
place.
1. Business leaders can inform parents and students of their expectations for graduates.

mission to prepare students for college and careers.

teachers where we are now (present status) and where we want to be (our goals) for
graduating students who are prepared for college and ready for careers.
Timelines
The timeline below illustrates the relationship between the goals and objectives and how these
are mutually supportive and interconnected. It is my intention to meet these goals and objectives
by June 30, 2016 so that the summer may provide an opportunity for the board to evaluate the
process and establish district goals for the 2016 2017 school year.

Evaluation
It is essential the board provide an evaluation and constructive feedback to the superintendent
regarding the success of meeting the four goals and objectives outlined in this entry plan. As
stated above, such an evaluation may serve as the basis for the 2016 2017 district goals. Early
summer is an opportune time to schedule a board retreat that will be the kick-off for a successful
2016 2017 school year.

The title Superintendent Entry Plan may be a misnomer since, in reality, it is a plan that requires
the support and participation of the entire Manchester Regional High School community. By
accomplishing the goals and objectives outlined in the Superintendent Entry Plan, the district
will be well positioned to develop long-term goals that serve to make Manchester Regional High
School Schools a premier school district in the State of New Jersey.
