Problem: Risk for ineffective coping
Target population: among adolescents, ages 1217, in census tract 40.29
Related to: personal vulnerability, negative role
modeling, and inadequate support systems,
secondary to poor living conditions and lack of
health and education resources
As evidenced by: exposure to chronic drug and
alcohol abuse, decreased ability to handle stress,
apprehension to ask for help, and unstable family
life and financial affairs.

Intervention:
Goal and Objectives
Goal: increase knowledge of adolescents, ages 12-17,
about drug use within the census tract community, thus
promoting drug awareness and decreasing or
preventing drug use among this population.
Objective 1: by the end of the presentation on
September 29, 2015, 50% of the audience will report an
increase in knowledge regarding the presented material
on the evaluation survey provided.
Objective 2: by the end of the presentation on
September 29, 2015, 25% of the audience will report
that the poster and information provided has influenced
a change in perception regarding future drug use.

Intervention
Objective: to assess effective of an educational
poster on improving secondary school (ages 11-19)
students knowledge of emergency management of
dental trauma
Methods: a cluster randomized control trial;
multiple schools had access to the educational
poster. Students knowledge on the topic was
assessed prior to and 2 weeks post intervention
Conclusion: educational poster significantly
improved the level of knowledge of school students

out by participants
Evaluation results:
Total of 10 participants during the hour intervention
Out of the surveys we received:
100% of participants answered that our poster increased
their knowledge about drugs being used in their
neighborhoods
100% of participants answered that our poster increased
their knowledge on drugs in general
100% of participants answered that our poster helped them
to decide to not use drugs in the future
