What exactly is identity?


Its simply who you are and tells everything about you!

Your fingerprint
is an example of your
identity!

Other things that make up your


identity
Self- concept is what you are labeled as in society.
ex. Son, daughter, husband, wife, cousin etc.
Others perceptions of you
Biopsychosocial concepts or in other words gender and ethnicity
Things like your personality or what motivates you daily

Freuds theory of Personality


ID: This part of personality is all about what an individual wants
and when they want it.
Ego: Deals more with what is reality and how adapt to what is
accepted
Superego: In this part of personality people start to reason
morally

Eriksons eight stages of man


Stage 1:Parental relationships

Infancy

Stage 2: Potty Training

Toddler

Stage 3: Exploration

Early Childhood

Stage 4: Achievement

Middle Childhood

Stage 5: Identity Development

Adolescence

Stage 6: Intimate Relationship

Young Adulthood

Stage 7: Giving back


Stage 8: Reflection on ones life

Middle Adulthood
Older Adulthood

Stages of crisis and identity


Identity Diffusion: People in this stage have yet to experience a
crisis
Identity Foreclosure: have yet to experience a crisis but have
developed their identity unlike diffusion.
Identity Moratorium: Have experienced a crisis but have not yet
developed their identity.
Identity of Achievement: Have experienced a crisis as well as
developed their identity.
