Now that people travel farther and faster across the country thanks to the railroad,
which used trains powered by steam engines, they needed a way to communicate
across such long distances more efficiently. This led to the invention of the
telegraph. The telegraph and the railroad united our country!
Someone who is part of your generation is someone who was born and lives
around the same time as you. Your grandmother would be an example of an
ancestor.
An area or division, especially part of a country or the world having definable
characteristics but not always fixed boundaries is a map region.
When you immigrate to a new country, you leave your old country and move to a
new one.
