Essential Question: Does astrological alignment and your zodiac sign affect your personality?
Working Thesis: Astrological alignment, which determines what zodiac sign you are, can be a
determinant of your personality.
Refined Thesis: The astrological alignment that occurs when you are born determines which
zodiac sign you will be, your zodiac sign can be a key determinant of what personality traits,
love luck, and level of extroversion you will have.

Astrological theories create a link between an individual's personality traits and the
zodiac at the time of birth. Eysenck and Nias have defined astrology as the study that deals with
the connections believed to exist between the positions of the planets at the moment of

someone's birth and that person's character, development, profession, marriage and general life
history. Astrology gives a description of the personality characteristics associated with the signs
of the zodiac, to validate the descriptions, a number of investigators have examined the relations
between personality traits as measured by reliable and valid psychological tests and various
astrological signs. According to Western or occidental astrological theory, people born when
astronomical bodies of the solar system are in the positive signs of Aries, Gemini, Leo, Libra,
Sagittarius, and Aquarius tend to be more extroverted, whereas those born when the bodies are in
the negative signs of Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn, and Pisces lean toward
introversion. The astrological line up at time of birth creates a direct effect on a persons level of
extroversion or introversion as proven by a number of studies in this article. This article is a key
support to my thesis because it has philosophical evidence to support the claim that zodiac signs
affect a persons personality.

And Personality?." Journal Of Clinical Psychology33.3 (1977): 711-713. Academic

The article focuses on the strategy of comparing individuals who were extreme in some
personality characteristics with those who showed an average level of that characteristic. It was
reasoned that if astrological data can predict personality, then some astrological traits should
differ between those with the extreme characteristic and those without it. The personality
measures used consisted of quantitative scores taken from the Leary system of Personality
Diagnosis. Birth information, which included date, exact time, and place of birth were obtained,

and an astrological chart was prepared for each. In essence, the chart describes the position of the
planets at the time and place of birth. The results of the chart determined that different levels of
personality were similar in those with the same zodiac signs, therefore supporting my thesis that
personality is a result of your zodiac sign and the astrological position during birth.

These charts present examples of four famous people, Albert Einstein, Franz Kafka, Bill
Clinton, and Ella Young, and how their zodiac signs relate to their personality. Einsteins chart
showed that his zodiac sign was Capricorn, and their trait was equalizing, which means people
born in this region tend to have the ability to incarnate a lofty idea and put it into the world in a
practical way, as Einstein was famously known to do. Bill Clintons chart shows that he is a
Cancer, which stands for harmonization. Harmonizers tend to be "people" people with the ability
to work outside of their own individuality and into the social domain, which would be perfectly
fitting for our former president. This source is key in supporting my thesis because it gives
specific examples of people whose personality we are familiar with and shows that those
personalities are related to their zodiac sign.

Astrological Factors."Journal Of Psychology 110.2 (1982): 275. Religion and Philosophy

This study examined the hypothesized relationships between zodiac signs and extraversionintroversion and neuroticism. Depending on whether or not you were born on an even or odd
numbered zodiac sign can determine whether or not you are extroverted or introverted.
Astrology contains perfectly straightforward and precise predictions about personality and more.
The study showed statistically significant relationships between personality traits and the zodiac.
This article is vital to my research because it shows, through a series of statistically proven
experiments, that a persons zodiac sign is a direct factor towards a persons personality.

Cultural Associations. Westport, Conn.: Greenwood, 1997. Print.
The book summarizes the background of zodiac and how it affects human endeavors.
Each segment introduces one of the twelve signs, and describes their stereotypical traits and their
correspondence to literature, the arts, and human interaction.

People who follow the zodiac

learn the general personality type, comprised of attitude, intelligence, and behavior, that evolves
from the influence of the stars. The book contains quotes from mid-century essayists and
philosophers to back up the statement that the zodiac sign is a determinant of what personality
and emotional life you will have.

Astrological information often appears in newspapers and magazines, which would
suggest that there are readers who may believe that their birthdates relate to astrology and that
this phenomenon influences their everyday lives, and personalities. Many scientists, particularly
psychologists, have attempted to link astrological signs with personality traits on a broad level.
The results have often been too broad and sometimes even controversial. Scientific evidence
generally indicates that zodiac star positions do not influence different personalities. The study of
planetary alignment, however, seems more complex, results in this field often involve smaller
research groups, and can therefore be considered as controversial. In this specific study a large
group of 65,268 job seekers were assessed by a personality questionnaire, the so-called Basic
Traits Inventory. The personality traits of four groups of individuals were compared. The groups
differed from each other in that all the members of a specific group shared the same planetary
alignment and zodiac sign. This article is key to my research because it is proved by a scientific
study that those with the same personality traits have the same zodiac signs.
