The evolutions of the combustion engine is our topic for the semester long project. In this project we will cover the history of combustion engine, how it works, various configurations of the engine, and the many uses of the engine from cars to planes. We will also explore the energy efficiency of the engine and how it has improved over the years and will continue to get better of the coming years.

Taylor Mayhew, Adam Carpenter, Will Walker Professor Lynn M. Raymond, MA UWRT 1103-014 1 October 2015 Semester Long Project Proposal Our topic for the semester long project is the evolutions of the combustion engine. We chose this topic because the combustion engine has such a wide variety of uses and has been used for many years. In this project we will cover the history of the combustion engine, how it works, various configurations of the engine, and the many uses of the engine from cars to planes. We also plan to explore the energy efficiency of the engine and how it has improved over the years and will continue to get better of the coming years. Lastley we will talk about the future of the combustion engine. Will it be replaced with something better, and how will it improve? We hope to use many modes of explanation in our project. In addition to having a powerpoint we will give an oral presentation. We hope to be able to have a object of sorts to explain how the combustion engine works, and also maybe another that we can show to give people a better understanding of it. We plan on researching every step of the way. In each of our sections we will find experts in the field of the topic online and make sure we make sure our information is accurate Our proposed plan is appropriate and effective because the few ways to research about engines is the internet. We hope to read about engines from trusted companies who make engines. In our Group we will assign different roles to different people. Adam will be the one to do more presenting the project. Taylor will create the powerpoint, and Will will do more of the

research . Each person was given these responsibilities because that is what they are good at. Adam is good at speaking, Taylor is the most competent with using Microsoft Powerpoint, and Will has more prior knowledge on the subject of internal combustion engines and their and will be able to do more in-depth research than Adam and Taylor. Will will also provide some of the tangible items for us to present to the class and he will also provide 3d computer models of engines and the automobiles in which they can be utilized. We will have to plan well in order to complete this project. By the end of week eight of class we will need to have all of our information gathered. By week eleven we will have our written paper done. By week thirteen of class we will have our powerpoint done.
