Human rights have evolved over human history, tied to laws, customs and religions throughout the ages. One of the earliest codifications containing individual rights was the Code of Hammurabi from ancient Sumeria, created 4000 years ago to protect people from arbitrary punishment. In ancient Greece, the concept of human rights took on a greater meaning than prevention of persecution alone, becoming synonymous with natural rights derived from natural law and the will of the gods. Children are entitled to human rights but also need special protection and care due to their vulnerability. Children's human rights help build a culture of human rights for future generations.

Childrens human rights are the blocks with which we build a human right culture in society and secure human rights for future generations.
