THE ENERGY BUS

BOOK REVIEW
The Energy Bus by Jon Gordon is a book that lists ten
rules necessary to live the best life possible. It is
applicable to different career paths, lifestyles, ages and
genders. The Energy Bus takes the reader on a journey
that starts off as a physical bus. The driver, Joy, finds it
her mission to drive the bus with energy and energize
everyone who rides along. As the rider travels with Joy
she teaches them how to be the driver of their own
metaphoric Energy Bus. The book takes us through the
journey of Georges life and how the Energy Bus
allowed him to turn around his failing marriage, job and
family.

TEACH LIKE A
CHAMPION
BOOK REVIEW
In the book, Teach Like a Champion
author Doug Lemov provides
instructional and management
strategies to enhance the quality of
teaching provided to students. These
strategies are best practices and can
be applied to any grade. Unique to this
text, is provided a DVD that shows
many of the strategies in practice
being used by classroom teachers. The
clips also range in grade level
reaffirming the fact that these
strategies are widely applicable.

HOW CHILDREN
SUCCEED BOOK
REVIEW
This book explicitly explains the
hardships that many of our inner city
students face. It discusses the issues
that must be tackled in order for all
students to succeed. Many schools are
failing because they do not understand
how to get positive results. The book
suggests that this begins with learning
and teaching students how to fail, build
character, succeed and think. By
understanding and teaching students
these skills, we are not simply teaching
students how to cooperate, but to make
healthy decisions independently,
allowing them to be successful and
contributing citizens on their own.
