Action Plan

ELL students
on campus are
not meeting
standards in
the writing
STAAR.

The ELL
committee
analyzed the
STAAR results
and separated all
the STAAR
writing by rating.
Most of the
students that got a
low score were
students who are
ELL and have
been on our
campus four years
or more.

Our ELL students

are not showing a
year or more
growth in
TELPAS across
grade levels.

The ELL
committee
and I
compared the
results from
last year to
this year. A
graph was
created by
grade level
and teacher.

Create a school
wide writing plan.
Writing samples
will be collected
monthly and put
on a writing wall
and monthly
journal checks will
be conducted
using a schoolwide rubric. The
checks will be
conducted by
administration
and feedback will
be provided.
1.) A school wide
ESL
observation
form will be
created and
monthly
walkthrough
will be
conducted by
administration
. Feedback
will be
provided to
the teachers.
2.) We will have
one ESL
teacher for a
three way
bilingual
rotation and
see if it is
more
effective.
3.) Monthly ESL
journal

checks.
4.) Ensure that
bilingual
classes are
using I-station
in English.
Technology is not
being
incorporated in
ELL lessons.

The ELL
committee looked
at programs
available at school
and realized that
there was no
computer program
that targeted
ELLs.

Purchase Imagine
Learning and ensure
that it is used across
grade level. Develop
an implementation
plan that includes
computer lab time for
ELL newcomers. The
ELL newcomers will
go once a week to the
computer lab and use
Imagine Learning for
30 minutes. I will
present the program to
the grade level during
PLC during November
and get schedules setup so the program can
be up and running in
January.

Teachers do not
receive
professional
development that
is relevant. There
is limited time at
the beginning of
the year for
professional
development.

We determined
that many of our
teachers and
administration
received training
on best practices
during the
summer;
therefore, teachers
would benefit
from having a
mini-conference
at school.
Teachers had
voiced their need
for professional
development that
is relevant and on
campus.

1.) Prepare a list

of topics that
teachers are
interested in.
2.) Prepare a
miniconference
schedule and
sent to
teachers.
3.) Conduct a
survey to see
if teachers
were satisfied.

1.) Imagine
Learning
reports by
teacher.
2.) Monthly
reports for
the ELL
newcomers
to determine
if they are
showing
progress.
3.) ESL grades
for our ELL
newcomers.
Their grades
will be
compared
for the
second,
third, and
fourth nine
weeks.
