Chapel Reaction Paper 3

I decided to attend Chapel on November 18, 2015. The main speaker today, apart from
Pastor Ryan, was his father. His name was Rev. Dr Roy Peterson VP of Advancement. I thought
that it was really cool to see Pastor Ryand father preach. This is because we have watched him
numerous times and it was interesting to see how similar they were. The series we currently are
in is totally stressed. I am glad I attended chapel today because that could not be any more true
fir my life at the moment. The specific theme for today was be still.
Todays chapel started out with the verse Psalm 46. This verse says, God is our refuge
and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give
way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the
mountains quake with their surging. Selah. There is a river whose streams make glad the city
of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells. God is within her, she will not fall; God will
help her at break of day. Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall; he lifts his voice, the earth melts.
The LORD Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah. Come and see the
works of the LORD, the desolations he has brought on the earth. He makes wars cease to the
ends of the earth; he breaks the bow and shatters the spear, he burns the shields with fire. Be still,
and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth." This
verse was a perfect start to todays chapel. Today really touched me because it showed a video of
the terrorist attacks in Paris. This made me take a step back and realize how small my problems

are compared to other things in this world going on today. I really pray for Paris. Thinking about
these terrible things were related to the Lord today, however.
The message today was focused on the fact that bad things do happen but God does not
give up on us no matter what. God knows the pain that we go through because he died on the
cross for our sins. He did this to redeem us because he loves us so much. I do somehow question
how the Lord could allow such terrible things happen. I know that the devil can persuade people
to be evil. However, the evil things that happen in this world seem unbelievable at times. God
never gives up on us no matter what so I have to do the same for him. Everything happens for a
reason and it is all in Gods plans. God has a plan for all of us and I cannot wait to fulfill the life
he wants me to live.
I was able to take life application from this chapel service. This Chapel showed me to
view my life a little differently. Everyone faces problems but we don't have to face them alone. I
know that my problems are not as big as other problems of people in the world. I know that God
is with me and that no matter what I can face any problem that comes my way. Chapel ended
today with a reference to Romans 15. We are able to face anything that we need to endure with
God there and that is the main theme of this verse and it went perfectly with chapel. This verse
also focuses on Pauls plan to visit Rome.
