Future Goals: Studying and striving to become a teacher.
Working with Children Experience:
Babysitting Jobs: (2010 to present)
I was a nanny for a family that had 5 year old twins; I helped teach them their letters,
numbers and how to write their names. Also I was a nanny for family that had a 4 year
old and 7 year old, I helped a 4 year old to learn how to write with his left hand as well as
develop better writing skills.
Coached a girls soccer team: (2012)
I helped coach Manzanos JV girls soccer team. We worked on team building skills to
improve on the sport.
Teaching with Animals: (2014)
I presented and taught young children to understand the needs and care for small animals
at Bookworks bookstore. I brought small animals, such as hamsters and guinea pigs, as
examples.
School observations: (2013 to present)
Through the courses at UNM I have observed many classrooms such as, Monte Vista
Elementary, Dolores Gonzalez Elementary, Roosevelt Middle School and Manzano High
School. In these classrooms there was a diverse set of students at each school ranging
from different cultural backgrounds, regular education and special education.
Working with Special Needs:
UNM Community Work: (2012-Present)
I have worked alongside and helped conduct an art class with Special Needs adults.
Together we created small murals with acrylic paint and other art projects involving other
materials.
Family Experience:
I have lived with a family member that is intellectually disabled. He experiences seizures
and has a hard time being independent and caring for himself without assistance. I also
have a cousin who is on the Autistic spectrum scale and has limited communication
skills; I am able to use some basic Sign Language to talk with him.
