Computer education for children at early age

Did you know that children who have access to computer account for 83.2 percent in
2012? This figure is increased a lot as compared with twelve years ago. It was 65 percent
when it was 2000. It shows us that computer use of children is increasing rapidly. According
to increase of childrens computer use, computer education for child is also growing. It is
worthy of notice since children represent our future. As the old saying goes, What is learned
in the cradle is carried to the grave. There exist positive effects and negative effects of
childrens computer education at early. Lets take a look at the both sides of the effects.

Computer education will stand children in good stead when it comes to adapting the
world which is fast-changing. Children can advantage of computer education. We are in the
age of information that is based on computer. Someone say that Those who have powerful
information dominate the world in the age of information. We use computers as a useful tool
in almost every field such as journalism, financial business, engineering, publishing, medical
world, and entertainment. Everywhere we go, computers are used. Therefore, computer
education is important for children to survive in this computer world. Other reason to educate
children how to use computers is that it can protect them from cyber-crimes. Nowadays,
cyber-crime is serious problem. Damage of cyber-crime is increasing because we are highly
dependent on computers. Computer education to children how to protect their personal
information from the internet can be one of the solutions. Most of all, it will be advantageous
to children for the future. They can get a job after they receive a computer education early.
There are various jobs that are related to computers such as 3D Animation designer, data
analyst computer engineer, software developer and so on. It can be expected to increase in the
future.

Simple computer education is very useful to students in order to do their school work.
Even though children dont study high level of computer skills, basic skill of computer can
help their academic achievement in school. Some students are struggled with their homework
because they dont know how to operate a computer. For instance, usually teachers give
essays to students to write in Word processor. Also, when students give a presentation they
should use the presentation program. A study said that early childs creativity can enhance
when they use computer-based education. From the past interest in creativity has increased
steadily. Creativity is highlighted in school works. Children can increase their creativity by
using computer-based education. They can show their ability when they are in school as well
as when they go out into the world. It can also helpful for children to study computer skills
since childhood. This is because curriculums are going to be reformed. Nowadays,
curriculums are changed in the world in order to adjust the fast-changing world. They include
computer programming class or software class.

On the other hand, there exist also a number of negative effects of computer
education for children at early age. First of all, it hinders neurological development of
children. This is particularly concerning in terms of children because their brains develop
constantly through adolescence. Childrens concentration should be developed during
childhood. It is required for their brain to train the capability to pay attention. Most computer
education software does not allow them to develop attention ability. They are simple and
automatic programs that make children become passive. Childrens activity is limited when
they use education software except that they just look at screen and click the mouse. Secondly,
extended computer use deprives children of physical activity that can cause obesity. Child
obesity is a serious social problem all over the world. Even though there are various different

causes which have a bearing on the matter, one of those reason is early computer use of
children. They are likely to be addicted to computer due to their lower self-control than
grown-up. Lastly, another problem depending on computer use of children is social
development. Childrens cognitive development is closely related to mixing with their peer
group or parents. Though, excessive computer use in childhood can arrest the social
development.

We need to be concerned about computer education for child since it is related to

their intellectual development. If they miss an opportunity to develop their intelligence, it is
not easy to extend their intelligence. Also, it can cause their physical problem. It is obesity
that is the all source of illnesses. However, it does have many advantages such as helping to
adjust age of information. Furthermore, they can do their preparation before they enter the
school because computer is frequently used at school as an academic tool. In conclusion,
though computer education at early age is unavoidable, we need to be more careful not to
hinder childrens intellectual development.
