Introduction
In this lab assignment, students were given the task to move parts at various speeds from one
place to another. This lab provides students with an overview on how industrial applications are
performed on assembly lines. Students were also instructed to use certain commands like
ACCEL, OADL, SPD, OVRD, and JVRD. These commands provide insight on now just using
normal commands, but how to take full control over the robot.

Objectives
The objectives of this lab were to successfully program a robotic application using speed control
instructions. Learning how to use speed controls for robotic programming is a necessity when it
comes to robotic applications. Many times, a robot must perform numerous tasks in a specific
amount of time, and controlling speed affects the overall efficiency of the process. Speed
controls are also used for applications such as cooling time, and for safety measures as well.

List of Program Instructions and Task Requirements

Lab Description
This lab required students to program two positions, point A and point B. After these two points
were programmed, students then needed to then do slow speeds while picking the item at point
A, move fast to another PSAFE position, then move quickly to point B. The robot would then
need to return to PSAFE, wait for 10 seconds, then repeat everything in reverse.

Discussion of Questions
This lab required us to perform a load and unload process and techniques that worked as shown
in appendix A, JOVRD to slowly approach an object and then close the hand tool then speeding
back up safely with the object securely held in place.

Conclusions
The major objectives of this lab (learning to successfully program a robotic application using
speed control instructions) gave students an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience
with the Mitsubishi lab robot and its associated operating system. Although this lab was
challenging, it was ultimately a very informative, engaging and interesting experience which
imparted useful skills that can be used in future labs and applications.
