Identification of Standard
According to International Society for Technology in Education Standards Teachers (ISTE),
teachers shall design, implement, and assess learning experience to engage students and improve
learning . Also, teachers shall provide positive models for students and meet facilitate and inspire
student learning and creativity standard by using their knowledge subject matter, teaching and learning,
and technology to simplify experiences that advance students learning and innovation in both face-toface and virtual environments. Teachers shall; (a) promote, support, and model creative and innovative
thinking and inventiveness; (b) engage students in exploring real-world issues and solving authentic
problems using digital tools and resources; (c) promote students reflection using collaborative tools to
reveal and clarify students' conceptual understanding and thinking, planning, and creative processes;
(d) model collaborative knowledge construction by engaging in learning with students, and other in
face-to-face and virtual environments.
After complete the curriculum, teachers in this grade level will accomplish the No Child Left
Behind Act (NCLB) which requires that all group of children reach proficiency in Mathematics. The
Status/Growth Measure is one of the performance indicators for Nevada Department of Education
which implies elementary students. Teacher will use a summary of Student Growth Percentiles (SGP)
to measure a students achievement of similar groups of students form one assessment to the next.
Mathematics will be one of three performance indicators which use to calculate student's knowledge
growth achievement. The Nevada School Performance Framework (NSPE) is a standard which
produces an index score based on 100 points for each of Navada's public schools. This criteria is
rooted in the relative performance of Nevada schools. NSPF index score is a composition of several
performance indicators. Each indicators worth a predetermined maximum number of points. Each
performance indicator is itself composition of multiple factors. The index score is the sum of all
elementary school point attribution includes status (school) points, growth (school) points, gap
(subgroup) points, gap (supergroup points), and other indicator points. The state of Nevada uses
Nevada Ready 21 which is a state technology plan to ignite the development of students' 21st century
skills. This plan transforms K-12 education by engaging all students as a learner-centered education.
Teachers will provide education that build a vibrant and diverse economy. Nevada Ready 21 provides a
blueprint for implementing one-to-one student computing in Nevada schools which is approved by the
Nevada Commission on Educational Technology.
The standard of the third grade is that students will be able to extend the three digit numbers
and will continue to gain a basic addition and subtraction facts. A relationship of whole number is very
important for a students in this grade level. By using technology teaching and leaning, students will
keep up their attitude of curiosity, creativity, and fun. Students will learn with a different style and will
expand knowledge of equality by identifying missing numbers in addition and subtraction facts. As
learning mathematics lesson, students will be engaged in using materials and technologies such as
computers. However, technology shall not be used as a substitute for the student's understanding in
addition and subtraction basic computations. Mathematics has its own vocabulary which can be crucial
to a student's understanding; therefore, using technology will encourage students to use correctly
patterns and concepts which will help students to reach standard. The major goal of the mathematics is
to develop problem solving skills of students at every grade level.
