Student Learning Objectives:
Monday:

Psychomotor (P): SWBAT accurately demonstrate the COTS for passing and dribbling with
75% proficiency.
Cognitive (C): SWBAT acknowledge, demonstrate, and recite the COTS for the basketball
dribble and pass with 80% accuracy.
H-R Fitness (H): SWBAT remain actively engaged throughout the activity while increasing their
heart rates and reaching the goal of 50% MVPA during the activity 90% of the time.
Wednesday:
Psychomotor (P): SWBAT execute a complete bounce pass and chest pass, after demonstrating
how to dribble the basketball with a defender in front of them with 70% accuracy.
Cognitive (C): SWBAT acknowledge the COTS of the basketball pass, dribble, and defensive
stance 80% of the time
H-R Fitness (H): SWBAT remain actively engaged throughout the activity while increasing their
heart rates and reaching the goal of 50% MVPA during the activity 90% of the time.
During this lesson I felt as if I reached my students learning objectives when it came to
psychomotor and cognitive learning goals. However, I did not reach my goals that were set for
H-R Fitness. My moderate to vigorous activity was set only documented at five hundred and
seventy seconds which is only approximately 10 minutes of MVPA. This was a regression from
last weeks reflection. The reason being is that I noticed that my instruction tie spent was far too

much. I spent seven hundred and thirty five seconds which twelve minutes was providing
instructions to the class. This is the same hurdle I ran over during last weeks unit plan. With that
being said, I should have provided shorter instructions and provided each student with a ball to
practice their dribbling. This would have helped increase my MVPA.
Creating a Quality Learning Environment:
During this weeks lesson, I felt as though I was able to address the four criteria for the
students learning experience. I was able to assist with improving their motor and manipulative
skills for their basketball drills such as dribbling and passing. Even though I felt as though my
students received an ample amount of practice time, the data that was collected proved me
wrong. I tried having my students work in groups so that they can learn from one another and
teach them how to communicate and practice team work. However, I should have provided each
student with a basketball to practice with. During this lesson I also allowed room for
advancement during my extension plans each day. On Monday I had students to practice waling
and dribbling to the cones. On Wednesday I had students practicing their passing drills during a
keep away game. This is one game that I though went well for the students. They were able to
interact with one another, learn, and have fun.
Strengths and Weaknesses in Pedagogical Skill Set:
Before the start of the lesson, all students were seated on the white base line. I provided
the class with full detailed instructions. I tried to make them as clear as possible, but the
instructions seem to be a little long. I also provided the class with visual and verbal COTS that
were demonstrated by the teacher, evaluating team member and a student. Before the unit began
I placed the equipment where the students where to be placed during the activity. During this

lesson I learned that I spent more time on one side of the class than I spent on the other. This may
possibly mean that some students may have needed some feedback but I did not provided it to
them. I did however, provided positive and constructive feedback to those students who I where
able to see. I also remained positive and energetic throughout my lesson.
Recommendations:
In the future I should have all students to practice dribbling with a ball. This will allow
more practice time and activity time, which will help improve their manipulative skills. Looking
into next week I will try to focus on minimizing instruction time and focusing on MVPA, which
are our goals as teachers.
