WHAT INSPIRES ME

MY FAMILY
I decided to use this picture because
it was from the day I graduated high
school and we still had one of my
biggest supporters with us, my Gram.
Even on my worst days they have my
back and are always there to cheer
me on with anything I do.

WHAT INSPIRES ME

KATIE
I motivate myself to work hard all
week with my classes and job so that
on the weekends Ill be able to go
home and see this adorable puppy.

WHAT INSPIRES ME

WORKING WITH KIDS

For the past five summers I have
taught swim lessons and that is what
showed me how much I wanted to be
a social worker.

EXPRESSIONISM

Title: T he Str eam

Ar tist: E d va r d M unch
I chose this painting for my example of
expressionism because it displays a lot of
emotion. The facial expression on the
person in the painting shows stress and
worry.

FORMALISM

Title: Vision of New Fields

Artist: Anthony Ryan
I chose this artwork for formalism
because of Anthony Ryans display of
color and line. He used line and color
in a way that it created a pattern
behind other patterns.

INSTITUTIONALISM

Title: You Have Beautiful Eyes

Year: 2005
I chose this artwork for
institutionalism because it is a
combination of old and modern art.
There are also no guidelines with this
piece. Someone just decided it was
art.

I believe that all the theories can relate to my own personal feelings
about art, but if I had to choose which ones relate the most to my
own feelings I would choose expressionism, and institutionalism. I
believe that art is something one connects with. It is always
personal and it should be felt. With expressionism you can feel all
the emotion in thee artwork. Then with institutionalism there are
no guidelines or rules, and to me I feel that that is how art should
be. There shouldnt have to be any barriers with where you want to
go.
Two theories of art that I do not completely agree with are
representational and communication of spiritual/moral ideas. I
think that art doesnt always have to look realist. Sometimes art
doesnt have to be a realist picture to be felt or to make a point.
Also I do not believe that art needs to always be spiritual. I think
art is something you cannot set guidelines and rules for. It is
something that is completely creative and unique.
