InTASC Standards, Brief Description, and Rationale

in the reflection.

Rationale: To document my understanding of InTASC Standard 1, Learner Development, I developed an integrated, age appropriate
physical education lesson plan that incorporates state standards across disciplines, has accommodations for children varying ability
and motor development levels, effective assessment and outlines safe environment.

Instant Activity Assignment

Instant Activity Title: Hot Potato
Materials/Equipment Needed: bean bags, speaker for music
Activity Time Duration: 5 minutes
Presentation Date: December 2, 2015
National P. E. Standard: Standard 6 students value physical activity for health, enjoyment, challenge, self-expression, and or social
interaction.

understanding of movement concepts,

Students demonstrate an

principles, strategies, and tactics as they apply to the learning and

activities
Integrated Subject Area(s) social studies, math, English
Safety Concerns: make sure students dont throw bean bags only pass

performance of physical

Suggestions for improvement: If there is a large group of students split into two groups to save more time. Make sure the music is
loud enough so each group can hear it. Maybe if you are using one big group use two bean bags to pass around.
Accommodations: Children in wheel chair or any other case could help with music and questions.

Personal Reflection: When planning this assignments I thought about using it for using it for younger children. The hot potato game
can be used for all ages especially if different subject areas are integrated inside the activity. For example, for our instant activity we
used history questions that were aimed for fifth graders. Instead of having the students get out when the bean bag lands on him or her
they were given an option to answer the question or pass it and complete an exercise. I enjoyed this activity because it was something
I played when I was younger without the subjects integrated with it. I didnt use any outside resources for this activity. I previously
played the game before. The changes I would have made to the activity was make sure I plan what exercise the children will do if they
choose to pass the question. Having to choose their own exercise may take up time. The instant activities got me prepared on coming
up with activities that I might have to do inside my future classroom. If I could redo it I would have put more thought into the activity.
