CANDIDATE REFLECTIONS:
(Minimum of 3-4 sentences per question)
1. Briefly describe the field experience. What did you learn about technology facilitation and
leadership from completing this field experience?
I learned that technology facilitation deals a lot more with PSC standards 1 with sharing the vision
and 6 with reflecting and revising to make the technology use better. Since technology is always
changing it is important for a facilitator to research new ideas, change existing ideas and get others
on board. It would be important for a coach to receive feedback following help sessions to
continue reflecting on effectiveness of presentations and keep communication about what still
needs more work. I also learned that coaches may also hear about new technology from teachers
and having a shared approach will be more beneficial.
2. How did this learning relate to the knowledge (what must you know), skills (what must you
be able to do) and dispositions (attitudes, beliefs, enthusiasm) required of a technology
facilitator or technology leader? (Refer to the standards you selected in Part I. Use the
language of the PSC standards in your answer and reflect on all 3knowledge, skills, and
dispositions.)
Knowledge As a coach, although I would not be grading students, I still have to know the aspects of technology
that teachers use for classroom procedures. I would need to keep up to date, with research PSC 2 have great people
skills and present new visions PSC 1 and workshops to teachers in order for the technology to be effective. I would
also need to be available to help when the teachers are in need.
For the workshop I needed knowledge of good websites to help others.
Skills A coach will have to have patience, people skills in order to get people comfortable enough to share their
problems and be able to get them to listen to answers. A coach also has to have plenty of technological skills to
resolve issues for teachers and model effective use of technology PSC 3.
For the workshop I needed to use design skills as well as leadership skills.
Dispositions I believe that technology coaches are of extreme value. When teachers reach a wall with what they are
doing, time can be wasted or jobs may not get complete unless they are shown how to overcome the obstacle and
reflect and revise PSC 6. I feel like I helped handle teaching responsibilities and resolved her problems.
3. Describe how this field experience impacted school improvement, faculty development or
student learning at your school. How can the impact be assessed?
From the coaching, I was able to help, near to 150 students to successfully use the language lab. The teacher could be
more efficient as they can record all students at one time in a minute or two and listen to responses later so that class
time is not taken up to do so. Students can also work together by speaking through the headset an eliminating the
outside noise from other students. This may help students with anxiety to feel more comfortable.
I now can help 18 foreign language teachers use eClass recording with their 150 students. Learning about these
tutorials may impact not only the teacher, but bring success to hundreds of students. The help from these tutorials
could reduce stress of parents wondering what else the student can do to help.
From the workshop, teachers will now be able to be more efficient with grading as it is done
online and can easily be compared in charts. Additionally, there could be an increased use in
eClass which is currently desired by the school as the district compares eClass use by school and
displays charts.
From the coaching experience I learned how important you can be to productivity in the
classroom. I employed some of the 8 strategies for coaching by Knight. My coaching went well. I
feel like the more prepared you are the easier it will be.
