The positive and negative aspects of Social Media
Many people believe that Social Media play an important role in their life. Even though
Social Media has many positive aspects, it has cons. Social Media is a beneficial method to get
either information or to communicate to other people from different countries. Social Media has
a great history that shows how it helped them in the past. According to Edosomwan, Prakasan,
Kouame, Watson, Seymour (2011), the authors also looked at the definition of social media, its
concept and application in the 21st century. In the decade of information systems, social media has
played a vital role in transforming business and communications (page 1).Therefore, it clear that

social was used in the past and it has a long and great history. It is helpful for students because it
has many aspects that can help students to communicate with their teachers online or by writing
emails. In addition, there are many programs such as Twitter, and Facebook help people to
contact with family and friends. Furthermore, it can be a source of entertainment for either
children or adults. The argument will be about social medias aspects, and prove that social
media has more advantages than disadvantages. In my opinion, I believe that people can have
benefits from social media to help them improve their lives because it helps them to
communicate, help students in schools and universities, and enjoy time.
Communication is very important to most people nowadays. It is becoming easier
through the development of the technology and social media. In the past, there werent many
methods to communicate with other people from different countries. Even though there were
methods, they took so long time to reach them. Nowadays, there are many programs that can
help people to contact their friends, family, and their professors. Social media has been helping
people from all over the world to know news around the world. For instance, the social network
is one of the methods that provides people with the earliest information from any country in the

world. Through communication people can experience and learn from other peoples cultures and
traditions. Twitter is nearly the most common program that everyone is using. According to
Grosseck (2008) Twitter is the most popular microblogging application, with almost one million
users called twitterers (paragraph 1). This means that many people are already using Twitter
which gives them the opportunity to learn and get in touch with people around the world in
different regions. In conclusion, social media plays an important role in communication and
provides many programs that help to make the world like one city.
Most people around the world are working hard to get higher education for higher jobs in
order to get higher income. Social media is being used by students to get academic researches
and information by asking professors and get information from students from different
universities or schools. In North Carolina university at Charlotte, I have asked a student about
social media and he told me that I have a class that students log online, and they use Skype to
talk with teacher because she lives in another country. Moreover, social networks can be
beneficial for the children in many ways. According to Schurgin (2011), social media site is a site
where people can communicate together and share information for example video sites such as
YouTube, and gaming sites such as Second life, and social networking sites such as MySpace.
Those sites give the children the chance to experience a new kind of education and entertainment
and it dramatically increased recently. Therefore, it is clear that the children nowadays can enjoy
their time while learning in schools. In some schools teachers use games to teach young students
in age 6. Those games make the children active in a class. In conclusion, social media is a
beneficial method for education.
Social media has many advantages, and one of those advantages is entertainment. Social
media can be a source of enjoying free time. There are many virtual games that people can enjoy

their time. For instance, World of Warcraft is one of the most famous games around the world.
There are about 7.6 million players play World of Warcraft this year according to Makuch
(2014). In World of Warcraft, the player has the ability to create an avatar and make his own
character and experience an enormous world with many people from different regions. Also,
there are many chatting websites which people can talk to each other and have relationships such
as dating websites that can be beneficial for singles. Moreover, people may use programs that
allow people to speak through voice such as Skype and TeamSpeak. Therefore, people can have
conversations and communicate with anyone around the world. Furthermore, the television is
always being watched by people in any age. There are many different channels on television that
show different programs for people. News are the most common program that elder people
usually watch every day. In conclusion, social media has many different entertainment methods
to help people enjoy their time.
On the other hand some people assume that social media is a source fake and false
information. People from different countries use Twitter and Facebook to either chat with friends
or to show their opinion about the world by posting pictures. Many people in Twitter and
Facebook spread lies between other people. This issue creates negative stereotypes, and this may
affect peoples perspective about other countries. For instance, many people think that all Arabs
are terrorism. In fact, Arab countries are having wars between each other. However, this does not
mean that all Arab people are terrorism. Also, people must not think that every word that is said
by someone is true. Moreover, people believe that some students waste time because they use
mobile phones instead of studying. To sum up this paragraph, social media has both
disadvantages and advantage, but the pros in social media has essential role in peoples life.

Social media is a beneficial tool for every person if people used it in a right way. It helps
people to communicate, educate, and entertain. Social media should be used in the right way.
Every tool in the world has both advantages and disadvantages. People should stop spreading
wrong and negative thoughts about other people, so that negative stereotypes stop. The way
people use social media will be different in the future. For example, people might have the
ability to transfer their bodies by using modern technology. Moreover, people may figure out
new ways to solve the issues that social media has. To sum up, social media has impacted many
peoples life and changed the way they live into a wonderful world.
