Bibliography

Ed, Marti Seaton, Ronda Kouba, Jeanne H. Warner, Maureen K.

Mulvaney, Deann Bateman, Lou Orfanella, and Teresa Sousa. "The
Round Table: Accommodating Students with Different Learning Styles."
The English Journal 82.3 (1993): 80. Web.
19 Nov. 2015.
This text talks about the steps that certain teachers take in
providing a good learning environment for students. It also talks about
the ways in which students learn differently and how teachers need to
accommodate for that. This text is very credible because multiple high
school teachers around the country wrote it. These teachers are
credible because they are teaching the age range of students Im
writing about and are also credible because they have the experience
of dealing with these students. This fits right in with my topic because
it talks about how teachers have to find different ways to get through
to different students and help motivate them to learn. It specifically
relates to writing, which also fits in well with my topic.

Vanderheide, J., and G. E. Newell. "Instructional Chains as a Method for

Examining the Teaching and Learning of Argumentative Writing in
Classrooms." Written Communication 30.3 (2013): 300-29. Sage
Journals. Web. 15 Nov. 2015.
This text talks about the many steps in the writing process and
how it is important that they are taught correctly. It also talks about
how important each individual step is. This is a scholarly article that
has been peer reviewed and is definitely credible. It also has a works
cited page with many references. It fits with my topic because Im
talking about the styles of teaching writing and the writing process is a
crucial part of that. In some parts it is a little too scholarly for me but
in most parts its fine.

Brozo, William G., and E. Sutton Flynt. "Motivating Students to Read in

the Content Classroom: Six Evidence-Based Principles." The Reading
Teacher 62.2 (2008): 172-74. ERIC. Web. 19 Nov. 2015.
This source talks about motivating students to read starting at a
young age, so that they will want to continue reading later on in
school. It talks about specific ways in which to entice kids to read such
as picking books that interest them and what they like. It is very
credible and has many references listed in the works cited. These
authors are both credible because they are both former teachers that

actually did these things and it worked for them. It was also very easy
for me to read and understand. It fits in with my topic because I talk
about how my teacher got me to enjoy reading by picking a book that
interested me and related to where I was in life.

Simmons, Amber M., and Melissa Page. "Motivating Students through

Power and Choice." English Journal 100.1 (2010): 65-69. Web. 17 Nov.
2015.
This text talks about how to motivate students to want to read
and write more. It says that the best way to do this as the teacher is to
allow the students to have a say in what they do because it can really
empower them. The article was not too scholarly and was easy to
understand. The authors were teachers, one at the high school level
and one at the college level, so they know what they are talking about.
It relates to my topic because it talks about the best ways to get
students to want to read and write.

Kember, David. "Motivating Students through the Curriculum."

Understanding the Nature of Motivation and Motivating Students
through Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (2015): 99-105.
Web. 17 Nov. 2015.

This source talks about giving students freedom of curriculum,

not only within the class but also being able to choose the classes they
take. It is a very credible source; it is a chapter from a book. The
author was a teacher and also got a lot of information from other
sources that were written by teachers, which makes him credible. It
relates to my topic because it talks about motivating students so they
can do well in school. It is a little broader then my topic but mentions
this that relate specifically to my topic.

Kember, David. "Motivating Students through Teaching and Learning."

Understanding the Nature of Motivation and Motivating Students
through Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (2015): 79-97.
Web. 18 Nov. 2015.
This source also talks about motivating students but through
teaching and learning in the classroom instead of freedom of classes.
This is another chapter from a book. He is also a former teacher just
like most of the other authors from my sources. It can get too
scholarly as some parts but is understandable through most of it. It
relates to my overall topic because it is talking about different ways to
motivate students in order to benefit them in school and later in life.
