Reflection for Informative Essay
During my time of writing the three drafts of my informative essay I stumbled upon
several weaknesses and strengths. I realized that it is more difficult than I initially
thought to keep my opinion and point of view to myself. Even with only stating
informative sources and sentences I still was not able to fully keep how I felt out of
the paper. This showed me a few ways for me to not write an informative essay. It
was very enlightening to be able to do this paper more than once because I was
able to go about it a couple of different ways. The rhetorical analysis was used in
analyzing the information from sources (to critically think on whether or not the
sources were scholarly credible), and critical composing came in when I figured out
how to best arrange the information to more efficiently present to the audience.
This was especially hard due to me picking scientists as my audience. Using an
audience with experience and a general sense of experienced professional
knowledge about them is hard for an unexperienced writer, but thanks to choosing
a difficult audience I grew as a writer and learned how to more adequately present
my paper.
