Body Paragraph 1
A. The University was established in 1965 in response to a need for public higher education
in southwestern Indiana. The University of Southern Indiana is one of six state
universities in Indiana conferring baccalaureate and higher degrees. USI has an
outstanding academic reputation as one of Indianas best universities. All of the degree
programs offer advantages such as: small class sizes, expert faculty, practical experience,
accessible services, and outcome oriented college degrees.
B. It is a medium-sized college. There is 39% graduates within six years. The average
financial aid package cost $8,781. It is located in a small city in a suburban setting and is
primarily a commuter campus. It offers certificate, associate, bachelors, masters, and
doctoral degrees. There is a 4 year pattern. There is 120 hour requirement. The University
of Southern Indiana Nursing program prepares undergraduate and graduate students with
the nursing knowledge, clinical skills, and professional values to provide quality, costeffective nursing and health care to individuals, families, and communities.

A. It was found in 1862. They also have deep partnerships with the industry. Their strategic
approach to research involves innovating across the disciplines. They stimulate creativity
through risk-tolerant environments.

is located in a large city in an urban setting and is primarily a commuter campus. It offers
certificate, associate, bachelors , and masters degrees. Undergraduate education
prepares nurses to work in a variety of settings from surgery rooms to neonatal intensive
care units to community health clinics. Nursing requirements 58 credits. These may be
earned only at the Purdue University School of Nursing as a full time student. It is a 4
year pattern.

B. Nursing students have opportunities to care for real patients in a variety of clinical
settings, and skills are also learned in simulation labs. The growing use of the simulations
allows students to assume roles not available to students in a clinical setting. This allows
them to make critical choices and see the results of those choices. Graduate students who
complete the program will be able to obtain entry level nursing positions almost
anywhere that they desire, or they can continue their education and transfer to a four-year
university where they can earn their bachelors degree. Nursing graduates are able to be
employed hospitals, long-term care facilities, physician offices, schools, and health
departments.
