Lesson Intro (What will you say to get the students attention, communicate the lesson objectives, and
motivate students to achieve them?):
Good morning class, we have just finished our unit on volleyball and will now begin our unit on
Basketball. I know a lot of you have been patiently waiting to play basketball for a while now and I just
want to make sure everyone understands that there will be a variety of skill level. I understand we have a
few basketball players in here; a few that play basketball for recreation, and a few of us that have never
played basketball. I kindly ask that you bear with me in our progression leading up to gameplay. If at
anytime today you have any question, please feel free to ask me. Go get dressed and we will meet back
here.
Learning Objectives
Each objective should include: a) Performance
(the knowledge or ability the learner will gain as a
result of this lesson), b) Conditions (under which
the learner will perform, and c) Criterion (the
level of performance considered acceptable):

1. I can successfully dribble a basketball

with my dominant hand at least five times
in a row
2. I can point out one major cue in the passes
we will go over today.
3. I can successfully complete a chest past to
a partner without letting the ball touch the
ground.

Assessment
For each objective include your procedure for
determining whether objectives have been met:

1. Informal Observation: Walking around the

perimeter of the court observing each
individual and their partner.
2. Before releasing class, call on random
students to answer.
3. Have students count the number of times the
ball hits the ground

Safety considerations and/or modifications for special needs students: He will use a smaller
basketball that is easier to grip or a rubber recess ball to participate in todays skill work. Since we are
doing a lot of partner work, I will give the student the option to work with the Para as his partner.

Closure: Who can name one cue of each pass we

worked on today?

Thank you for your

hard work today class,
you may now dressout. Have a great day!

Closure (What will you say and do to help students recall the lesson objectives and recognize what
theyve learned? How will you meet one or more of the following goals: review, accountability, cooldown, recognition, interpersonal communication, future plans?):
I would like to thank you for your hard work today class, I was very impressed with what I saw today
even though it was only our first day of basketball! I saw different levels of skill when we were dribbling
and passing, do not worry because we will have a lot more practice in the days to come. Next class, lets
do a better job of holding onto the basketballs when instruction is being given. Anyways, who can name
one cue of each pass we worked on today? Good job, we will be introducing shooting the basketball
tomorrow. Have a great day!

Reflective Comments (to be completed after the lesson): Went well, find a disciplinary method to
enforce when students are bouncing basketballs while the teacher or other students are talking during
instruction/demonstration.
