General Assembly

Russian Federation (Alma Wolf)

North Korea
NON PROLIFERATION OF NUCLEAR WEAPONS
The Security Council and General Assembly,
Recalling three recent relevant resolutions, including resolution 1874 (2009), resolution
2087 (2013), and resolution 2094 (2013),
Calling to attention the ongoing threat of possession of nuclear weaponry, especially by
the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea (DPRK), as Joel S. Wit and Jenny Town
wrote in their article titled 7 Reasons to Worry About North Koreas Weapons, A North
Korean nuclear bomb dropped on Seoul or Tokyo would inflict enormous devastation,
killing or injuring an estimated two million people in each city, not to mention
radioactivity that would last for decades,
Noting with deep concern that the DPRK, along with more than 180 other countries,
originally signed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty in 1970, yet officially withdrew in
2003,
Deeply regretting that the previous resolutions written to deal with this issue
have been highly unsuccessful, and only heightened the severity of the problem,
Bearing in mind that the preceding sanctions and embargoes outlined in former
resolutions have done little to convince the DPRK to relinquish their weapons,
Recognizing that the DPRK has threatened numerous countries with its nuclear weapons
stockpile, including the Russian Federation, The Peoples Republic of China, and the
United States of America, all members of the United Nations Security Council,
Observing the need for a feasible solution that will resolve the ongoing controversy of
this matter,
Convinced that with enough incentive, reasoning, and solution-oriented thinking, the
DPRK will surrender its nuclear weapons stockpile and return peaceful relations to the
global community,
Acting under Chapter VII, Articles 41 and 42 of the Charter of the United Nations,

1. Further requests that the DPRK refrain from conducting any sort nuclear tests in the
future, including:
a) missile launches
b) rocket launches

2. Expresses its hope that the DPRK will finally recognize the global community's desire
for them to give up their nuclear weapons;
3. Calls upon all member states, especially those who consider themselves allies to the
DPRK, to use their political and economical power to dissuade the DPRK from
continuing to develop nuclear weapons, including:
(a) temporarily discontinuing the trade and exchange of any and all
commodities with the DPRK
(b) freezing all accounts that are related to trade and/or transactions
with the DPRK
4. Proclaims that the Six Party Talks, including The United States of America, The
Peoples Republic of China, the Russian Federation, Japan, The Republic of Korea (South
Korea), and the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea (North Korea) shall immediately
recommence and hold their first meeting within thirty (30) days of this resolutions
passing;
5. Urges the DPRK to diplomatically come to an agreement with other countries through
negotiations during these talks, and begin the process of denuclearization;
6. Encourages the DPRKs allies, and countries negotiating with the DPRK through the
Six Party Talks, to hold them accountable to their agreements;
7. Expresses its hope that the Security Council will become involved should the DPRK
fail to uphold what it has agreed to;
8. Further requests that the DPRK declares all of its nuclear testing facilities to its allies
within one hundred and eighty (180) days of this resolutions passing, and allows for
future inspections by the International Atomic Energy Agency;
9. Emphasizes to the DPRK that, should they commit to denuclearization, they will be
rewarded with humanitarian and economic aid.
