Address the following:
Type of setting (e.g., first grade classroom in an elementary school, self-contained
classroom, a home, a job site)
Your role in the focus learners instructional program (e.g., teach all academic
subjects plus support a behavioral plan; pull out of general education classroom for
supplementary instruction in reading; coordinate services to the family and model
working with the focus learner)

supporting/secondary learning targets (e.g., Tuesdays for 15 minutes; every day for

The primary language of instruction, if other than English (e.g., ASL)
[ The setting for the learner is in a general pre-k classroom at Doodlebugs! Childrens center.
There is one lead teacher and one teaching assistant in the classroom. All instruction is done in
one classroom with the exception of Doodle dance and Tae Kwon Do. I am a graduate student
who is designing a total talent portfolio for the student. Instruction time focuses on core skills
required for pre-k such as letter recognition, number recognition, center time, circle time, and
handwriting. Students keep a handwriting journal in the classroom. The primary language of
instruction is English. ]

1) Course grades:
Doodlebugs! does not provide students with course grades. They keep a handwriting and
letter writing portfolio that they practice in every day. They also have a set assessment that the
teacher fills out every month. Each month the children get a goal and then the teacher works with
the student to achieve that goal. Based on Noahs portfolios and assessment, I found that Noah is
does really well at writing his name. He can write both his first and last name now. He also is a
very talented artist. He draws with great detail in both his handwriting and letter portfolios.
2) Test scores:
State: N/A
District: N/A
Since Noah is only in Pre-k he has yet to take any district or state tests.
2) Observations:
Noah is a very talented five year old. He loves to draw. His favorite thing to draw right
now is superheroes. At home, he is working on a drawing of Superman. He also enjoys drawing
cars and pictures of his family and friends. Noah mainly draws with crayons, but he loves using
as many colors as possible. He knows all the colors of the rainbow. Noah also loves to draw new
pictures. If he does not know how to draw something, he will go find a picture in a book or on
the IPad.
