Progress Report on Creating a Technical Documentary About Weebly
November 17, 2015
INTRODUCTION

The purpose of this progress report is to show Dr. French the tasks we have already completed and the
tasks we have yet to finish. Our project was to create a technical documentary on how to design a Weebly
webfolio. Each student was free to choose which design website to use according to the ease of
navigation. Most students found that Weebly was much easier to use so they, in turn, used Weebly to
design their website. However, some mentioned occasional difficulties encountered using Weebly, so our
group conducted a class-wide survey that gave us a better understanding of common problems students
faced while using Weebly. The intention of this progress report is to show the steps taken in order to
create a project that could assist someone who is starting a website using Weebly. Many of the difficulties
were included in the video that students mentioned from the survey. Using the survey as an informational
tool, a video documentary was produced that clearly instructed students on how to easily navigate Weebly
and to encourage others to build their own professional website as well.
PROGRESS ON PROJECT
With Dr. Frenchs approval, we performed the following tasks in order to produce an effective and useful
tutorial video on how to create a website using Weebly.
Tasks Completed
The following tasks, 1-9, have been completed.
Task 1: Acquired a Basic Knowledge of Weebly
Looked over Weebly and examined the different features Weebly website offers. Familiarized ourselves
with the layout of the website and learned how to enhance our Webfolio with different attributes Weebly
offers.
Task 2: Typed- Up Proposal
As a group, we all contributed equally to the information incorporated in this proposal. The proposal
acted as a guideline for our group, as well as Dr. French, to provide deadlines and due dates for each task.
Task 3: Took a Class-Wide Survey
Created a 5-question survey with general questions about potential problems students encountered with
Weebly. Each student in the class responded to the survey. Part of the survey made us aware of what the

students were looking to create/include in their website, and the actual problems students encountered
while creating their webfolio.
Task 4: Gathered Notes from our Findings
Reviewed survey results and generated a list of common difficulties students encountered with Weebly. A
second list provided items students were looking to include in their webfolios and items that could
enhance their webfolio.
Task 5: Responded to the Problems
Found solutions to each problem gathered through the survey. Then the group had to create a list
addressing certain questions gathered from the survey to include in the tutorial video.
Task 6: Found Proper Equipment for Videoing
A video camera with good quality was located to create the video. After discovering capabilities of a
laptop, the group used the laptop to create the video.
Task 7: Wrote Up a Script/Looked- Up Enhancements
The group wrote a script to use when recording the tutorial video. The script was organized and with
bullet points as opposed to long paragraphs of texts. This helped the person speaking during the tutorial.
Task 8: Video Tutorial
All group members meet on a Saturday to record the video tutorial. All group members were present and
participated in the recording.
Task 9: Edited the Video
One person edited the video. After the video editing, the video was available on file exchange for
everyone to review. Everyone in the group provided feedback for the editor.
Tasks Not Yet Completed
The following three tasks have not been completed.
Task 10: Show Video to Dr. French
Show video to Dr. French to make sure we are on the right track. Obtain and write down feedback.
Task 11: Finalize Video Tutorial
Add any final editing touches. Be prepared to submit.
Task 12: Look into Submitting Tutorial in Spring Contest
Dr. French mentioned that this video could be used outside of just our class. She informed us about a
Spring contest that we could enter in this video.
