Philosophy

SW1094/12

I believe that education is a method through which knowledge is conveyed, developed or

taught with the aim of developing an understanding and getting individuals ready for intellectual
development.
According to Chomsky education is really aimed at helping students get to the point
where they can learn on their own (as cited on the parenting.com website). I agree with Chomsky
as I have seen on numerous occasions where children learn a specific topic (especially in
Mathematics) then they are able to solve problems that are more advanced than what they have
been taught.
Ramey (2013) suggests that technology is a body of knowledge devoted to creating tools,
processing action and extracting of materials. I believe that educational technology is the
appropriate and effective use of technology tools to facilitate learning.
I also strongly believe that there are numerous benefits of using technology in the
classroom. From experience I know that technology makes teaching and learning, fun and
interesting. The use of technology in the classroom will encourage children and assist with the
development of their technology literacy skills.
I believe that while teaching I can integrate various forms of technology in my future
lessons which will show result in improved outcomes as I assess my students. I will use
technologies such as computers, various software, projectors, speakers, smart boards, tablets etc
to engage my students. I believe that with the use of technology I will be able to adequately cater
to my students different learning styles. For example, for my auditory learners I will play
recordings and audio clippings to give specific instructions and explanations.

Philosophy

I believe personal development is based on ones personal skills and competencies. For
me I will ensure that I monitor my personal development by balancing my work life with my
personal life. Also I will be sure to connect with and inspire my students, their guardians, my
family, my colleagues and my peers.
