Interview- Principal-Stan Warren
1. What are the greatest assets of the school?
Students. We have 515 unique individuals who come to school
everyday and bring excitement as well as the community we have
here.
2. What are the schools greatest accomplishments over the past several
years?
The transformation, the building has changed and we are working
toward changing our instructional delivery where we can adjust and
adapt for Common Core. We are starting to change the perceptions of
students, parents, and teachers and are continuously working to
gradual growth.
3. What are the greatest challenges?
Being that we are in a rural setting it is tough trying to get staff to this
area. We try to use our resources such as local universities to get
teachers. Once they get here they realize that they like our students
and the area.
4. What do you see as my role as a leader or a leaders role?
Your role as a leader is to oversee and manage. Your day starts as
soon as you get out of the car and continues as you walk out the door.
Make sure you are visible and have a quality team that you can trust
and delegate. Leader cannot micromanage and has to help maximize
student achievement.

5. What are the greatest assets of the school?
Students. They are the reason we come to school and we are able to
build them as.
6. What are the schools greatest accomplishments over the past several
years?
The transformation project. We wanted to create a safe space,
enthused to learn, and fun environment. We have also grown a letter
grade from the School Accountability which has been a mindset
change.
7. What are the greatest challenges?
Parent Involvement and seasonal teachers not on board or willing to
think outside the box. They are stuck on how they have always done
it. Also, a lot of our students are raised by grandparents/younger

parents and the value of education hasnt been instilled in the


students.
8. What do you see as my role as a leader or a leaders role?
Continue to build relationships and ensure students can feel
successful. A leaders role would be to lead by example to be a model
for students and staff. It is not all about the leader.

Interview-4th grade Math/Science Teacher- Mrs. Mitchell


1. What are the greatest assets of the school?
Having a team across the grade levels.
2. What are the schools greatest accomplishments over the past several
years?
More people work together as a team and growth of student scores.
3. What are the greatest challenges?
Classroom management and differentiation of students need in the
classroom.
4. What do you see as my role as a leader or a leaders role?
You have given ideas and are always there we you need help. A leader
needs to oversee by help in a time of need. They need to be willing to
jump in and help.
Interview-Bookkeeper- Amy Baker
1. What are the greatest assets of the school?
The people/staff, everyone.
2. What are the schools greatest accomplishments over the past several
years?
Over the years they have worked to get the right people in place, they
have put the right people on the bus.
3. What are the greatest challenges?
Dealing with different personalities and being micro-managed. I dont
like when someone tells me how to do my job or tells me what to do
when I know what to do. There is a hard balance between being able
to get your job done and being in the limelight, there are a lot of
interruptions.
4. What do you see as my role as a leader or a leaders role?
Leaders role is to support and be a cheerleader for all students, staff,
and administration.

1. What are the greatest assets of the school?
Team effort in administration, everyone pulls together and works
together.
2. What are the schools greatest accomplishments over the past several
years?
The leadership has been getting better.
3. What are the greatest challenges?
This school has come through a lot, but transformation changes of
classes and getting the right teachers in the right spot.
4. What do you see as my role as a leader or a leaders role?
Leader leads by example, stays on the floor, is observant and
communicates.

Interview-School Resource Officer-Mr. Moore


1. What are the greatest assets of the school?
Family like, everyone comes together, pulls together to deal with the
issues in a professional manner. They handle the parents well.
2. What are the schools greatest accomplishments over the past several
years?
Scores increased and a lot of programs are offered for students like
Robotics, STEM, and Step-Teams. These programs can help lift the kids
up and help with attitudes if the kids will take advantage of it.
3. What are the greatest challenges?
Children are talkative and classroom management is a struggle in
some areas. Need to be consistent with student behaviors because if
you are not then the kids will take advantage of you. The kids need to
stay off the hall and in class, teachers need to make sure to follow
protocol.
4. What do you see as my role as a leader or a leaders role?
Leader is someone who can take control of any situation. They step in
and handle it. They help out and do whatever is asked. Everyone has
to pull together for the children.

1. What are the greatest assets of the school?
Teamwork and collaboration because everyone has the same common
goal-the students.

years?
Student growth and teacher commitment.
3. What are the greatest challenges?
Technology access and technology resources.
4. What do you see as my role as a leader or a leaders role?
Leaders support all, provide resources, and enforce consequences for
behaviors.

Interview-Counselor- Mrs. Vann


1. What are the greatest assets of the school?
Students. Our schools and policies are centered around them.
2. What are the schools greatest accomplishments over the past several
years?
Growth in test scores and the relationships among the staff has gotten
better.
3. What are the greatest challenges?
Time. There is so much to get done that you need more time in the
school day. Also the the limited staff can throw things off.
4. What do you see as my role as a leader or a leaders role?
Leader gives a listening ear to everyone. Everyone needs a voice and
needs to be heard. There is no issue too small or too big. It is about
finding the best solution for the school. A leader needs to be able to
juggle students, data, schedule, budget, adults, and be flexible. A
leader needs to be able to delegate.

1. What are the greatest assets of the school?
They dont have any. They need to handle the issues and they do not.

2. What are the schools greatest accomplishments over the past several
years?
None
3. What are the greatest challenges?
Trying to get home with your mind being sane.
4. What do you see as my role as a leader or a leaders role?
Willing to handle problems and not move the problem around but
actually solve it. Discipline is ineffective.
Interview-5th Grade Teacher-Mrs. B. Hines
1. What are the greatest assets of the school?
We are a loving family and care about children, go out of the way to be
the best assistance for the children.
2. What are the schools greatest accomplishments over the past several
years?
The transformation over the summer where we got together to work

Struggling students who are good kids but due to low reading levels
they act out in class but AES is continuing to make changes in
behavior.
4. What do you see as my role as a leader or a leaders role?
A leader should be able to assist teachers with best practices making
changes to ensure success, help with new ideas, professional
development, and new technology. They should also encourage and
appreciate the teachers.

1. What are the greatest assets of the school?
Learning new things and recess.

years?
Passing EOG and AR test.
3. What are the greatest challenges?
Reading a lot of books and math.

Makes good choices and is a good role model

AR- reading and doing tests.

Tests-EOG- it is a long time to concentrate.

Teaching kids how to do things.

Essential 55, it is helping kids become more respectful.

1. What are the greatest assets of the school?
The school has an open door policy. Administration is understanding of
staff, parents, and students.
2. What are the schools greatest accomplishments over the past several
years?
Increase of test scores and recognition for principal of the year.

Parent involvement

A leader should be understanding, communicate, be involved, and


have an open door policy.
