SPECIFICATIONS

1) Foundation:-

The foundation may be defined as an expanded base of a wall or pier


in addition to the ground or subsoil which supports it. the ground which
receives the building is known as natural foundation and the extended
base which are constructed of concrete or masonry are called artificial
foundations.

The artificial foundation may consist of (1) a concrete bed only, (2)one
or more courses of stone-work which are wider than the wall of the pier
they support thick are called footings, (3)a concrete bed with footings.

The type of foundation used here is a strip foundation.

The excavation done for the foundation shall be carried out to have the
minimum impact for the surrounding environment.

2) Plinth:-

The projecting feature constructed at the base of the wall is known as


plinth. It gives to the building the appearance of the additional
stability. The top of the projection is slightly weathered to prevent
water lodging and passing through any defect in the joint.

3) Masonry wall:-

The load bearing wall shall be constructed with stone jointed together
by cement mortar with the details shown in the drawings.

The type of stone used for the construction of wall is sandstone. Stone
with round surface shall not be used for walling.

The type of masonry used for structures shall be coursed rubble


masonry. The stones shall be well dressed either by hand or machine.

4) Flooring:-

The flooring shall be tiled flooring with marble stones where dense and
homogeneous texture with crystalline texture. It shall be uniform in
colour and free from stains, decay and weathering. The makarana first
quality shall be used for flooring.

5) Doors and windows:-


External doors are secured or hung by metal hinges to solid wood
frames, and internal doors are usually hung to wood linings or casings.

A window includes the frame and the one or more sashes which are
glazed. The frame may have solid wood members or it may be
constructed of comparatively thin pieces to form what is called a cased
or boxed frame. in order to provide sufficient ventilation the building
regulations stipulate that the minimum area of the open able part of a
windows shall be one twentieth of the floor area of the room.

The construction of doors and windows shall go accordingly with the


working drawing specified.

6) The roofing shall be done with A.C or G.I sheet. the sheet shall be laid
on the roof with a lap of not less than 15cm.
